Hormones and cancer
Q ) I was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in 2004.
I have read up about the ingredients within Recovery Remedy, and found the following about Red Clover:
The oestrogen-like properties in red clover isoflavones make it an unsafe herb for women with a history of breast cancer and those on hormone therapy, including birth control pills.
Could you please elaborate on this?
My daughter, who is currently on “the injection”, would also like the above clarified for her.
Thank you so much – looking forward to your response.
A ) Red clover is an isoflavone – a weak estrogen that deflects the strong 16- (bad, dangerous) estrogen from the receptor. As such, it does not have a pro-cancerous effect. Other early research shows it helps men with prostate cancer for the same reason. It would only be dangerous if you ate a cup full of fresh leaves every day!
I have attached more info about hormones behave and it should answer all your questions. I have a 4 part series on suite 101 on the Cancer Safari that really explains what goes on and how to deal with estrogen. You can access it from our website: www.naturefresh.co.za or go direct to google and type in: sue Visser suite 101 cancer safari.
I will write part 5 to complete the trip now that we have just returned from a safari to Botswana! Love, Sue
Response ) Thank you so much for your response Sue – much appreciated! Some interesting reading matter here. I have no doubt you had a wonderful time in Botswana, and I hope the rest of the day and weekend treat you exceedingly well.
Q2 ) Hi Sue I have been following all your quedstions and answers and find them so interesting, I am tking the iodine as you say particularly for my breasts, I have one breast that is constantley soar, went for an scan the other day and was told I have a cyst, what do you suggest for a cyst, shouldnt the iodine help for this, another thing I have noticed I have a yellow coating on my tongue is this the iodine.thanks for your good work
A 2 )Thanks for your feedback. We all like to care and share. Iodine should not stain the tongue. You like reading, so have a look at the tissue salts. NAT SULPH treats a yellow tongue that is the result of systemic acidity. KALI MUR treats hardened lumps or cysts – including the lymphatic tissue. I once did a trial with a hard lump that suddenly came up under my arm. After 2 days it subsided.
Polycystic breasts and breast cancer are iodine deficiencies. Persevere with iodine and also rub the DEO-BUSTER cream on a few times a day. Also over the throat area so it can be absorbed into the thyroid area.
Keep up the enthusiasm and valuable feedback, I really appreciate it.( Most people don’t acknowledge my answers, input, extra notes or the research I do for them.)
Something for ladies instead of a breast scan: No-Touch / No X-Ray Infrared Thermography
The Natural Medicine Clinic in Claremeont, Cape is now taking bookings for No-Touch / No X-Ray Infrared Thermography. Office 15, 1st Floor, Grove Bldg , c/o Grove Ave/ and Pearce Rd; as per updated attachment. http://thenaturalmedicineclinic.wordpress.com
1 How long does each test take? Thermography takes about 45mins from arrival, filling in data sheet then disrobing and having the thermogram done. Obviously the more infrared photos are taken on request of patient, more time, if patients want not just mammogram (R600) or half torso (R800) or whole body (R1000) .
2 Do you do the diagnosis and will you refer on if any problems? Definitive diagnosis requires careful full history, examination, blood and tissue tests (which are not part of the thermography screening booking). . All that such screening shows is whether there is suspicious heat pattern to indicate possible pathology- be it infection, pre/cancer or other inflammation eg active arthritis, and therefore whether further clinical consultation- investigation is advised.
We also offer remedies to reverse nuisance breast changes long before cancer becomes visible. The same applies to bones at risk.
MEGMAX and fibroids. Blood type A food problems
Q1 ) I recently bought some MegaMax I was just concerned about the Tribulis, if I am estrogen dominant with uterine fibroids will the megamax encourage more estrogen production Thanks
A1 ) Testosterone will aromatize into more of the wrong kind of oestrogen under certain circumstances, depending on how congested the liver is or if the alpha-5 reductase enzyme does a sneak conversion.
If you look at the PCOS protocol attachment this is explained.
To boost progesterone, the sweet potato tincture is preferable.
I would like you have a trip to our website at: www.naturefresh.co.za On the home page there is a link to suite 101 where I have a number of articles explaining more about good versus bad estrogen. Go on the 4 cancer safaris to get the picture and then learn how to really deal with estrogen dominance. (Comments in the boxes below help to inspire me!)
I have attached more info. MEGAMAX is excellent for menopausal women – providing the 2/16 estrogen ratio is favourable, as you will see.
Q2 ) Dear Sue I sent you an email earlier about MegaMax, reading through your website it dawned on me that for the first time in 20 years I will be able to sort my digestion out. I am A + if I eat any gluten I get pain radiating into my chest and throat that feels something close to a heart attack, do you know of a Gut DR in JHB where I can have tests done, advice on diet. Is your book available yet?
A2 ) The book HEALTHY HAPPY EATING is now available as a 3rd edition and well updated. In Johannesburg we have an expert to help you – Lucille in Sandton is on the ball! Regards, Sue Visser

PCOS on contraceptives wants to take Chaste Berry tincture
Q ) Hi. I would just like to enquire I am suffering from polycystic Ovarian syndrome and want to start using the above drops , is this drop going to clash with my contraceptive pills . Please refer to me as soon as possible. Regards
A ) Many of the ladies who suffer from PCOS are on contraceptives. In most cases it seems to be a causative factor! I have a PCOS protocol (see attachment) to help explain and deal with the aggravations. The worst problem with PCOS is insulin resistance but it is well controlled by dietary changes.
Chaste berry drops do help control high prolactin levels and helps to relieve sore swollen breasts and PMS. However, contraceptives are notorious for depleting vitamin B6 (this also controls bloating, swelling, PMS and swollen breasts). Bear this in mind. Also helpful in this respect is Omega 3 supplementation and adequate calcium and magnesium daily. Top up with a multivitamin like Ladyvite and extra B6 and you should feel better.
I am reluctant to send too many attachments to mobile devices. There is a lot of help at our website plus Q & A discussions to be of further help. All the best, regards, Sue Visser www.naturefresh.co.za
PCOS problems but breast feeding. Chasteberry?
Q) Hi Sue I just have a quick question, I used to use your Chasteberry tincture, to regulate my cycle and help with my PCOS. Then I got pregnant, and stopped taking it. My son is 10 months old, and still breastfed. Can I take it safely while breastfeeding? I want to stay in control of the PCOS – as it really is not fun 🙁 Thanks!
A ) Breast feeding relies on the hormone prolactin. Yes, the one that causes swollen, sore tissue in that area. Chasteberry keeps it under control, but it may affect your feeding. At a later stage it can be useful for weaning off and getting back to normal. Vitamin B6 in high doses is used to stop prolactin and hence it is also used for weaning once it is time.
At best, look at the PCOS protocol. Pumpkin seeds relieve other aspects. Most important is to control any signs of insulin resistance and this you can do. A blood sugar controlling protocol is beneficial to everybody, including junior! But it is wonderful when people breast feed for as long as is practical. What an advantage! Lots of love, Sue
Bad eating habits = health problems. A good example of a turnabout
Q1 ) Hope you are well. I wanted to know if you can recommend any multi-vitamin I can take. I have a very bad health history due to complications with PCOS. I only discovered I had this 2 years ago and I am 30 now. I have also grown-up with severe eczema. Recently, I have developed systematic candida problem due to a weak immune system function and loads of contributing factors over the years. Currently, I am taking LADYVITES by Vitaforce. I am taking Nature Fresh Olive leaf tablets and Calcium complex which have helped alot. I am still wanting to try the probiotics but I have not found them at Dischem yet.
I have also come across HAPPY WATER a product that re-mineralizes water. Since I drink loads of water to prevent constipation. Thanks a lot for always helping with information.
A1 ) Ladyvite is good because it is a slow release tablet. Omega 3 or cod liver oil is important as well.
Don’t forget iodine. Avoiding all gluten often helps to calm down immune problems.
I have attached the info on Candida and PCOS. Look at ways to add more of your own probiotic foods to the diet – it is cheaper. Taking 1g of vitamin C is good to prevent constipation. It can be added to any juice, with a pinch of Himalayan salt.
Q2 ) I will most definitely be doing that. I keep reading and reading and to tell you the truth at first I was in absolute denial and did not want to accept that I had to change my eating habits that I was used to. Now, I think boy i’m kinda lucky i’m doing all this reading and changing because there are so many people that have fungal signs and symptoms but they are eating all the wrong things and never getting better only worse because they don’t know. I have decided that even though the changes in my diet have been slow I am making them as I understand more and more why I have to. So, I have decided to start the GAPS diet and slowly eliminate grains for faster healing and using the knowledge your book gives also. Whish I have had for five years read and buried out of denial. And look where I am today so I really need to change and not make the same mistake.
Response ) Wow thanks so much for the tips and the info. I’m big on any new information out there so if you have time and more info don’t hesitate to forward it. I will definitely try the vitamin C tip to help with my bowels and also the oils.
A2 ) I am glad you like the info. Our website contains the latest info. You can join the link to suite 101 or Facebook on our home page to stay in the loop. All the best, and keep supplementing! Love,Sue

Blood type A wants to eat corn / maize / mealies? Secretor status is required.
Please answer this question for me ….
Q ) Am I allowed to eat corn on the cob, (mealies), popcorn, creamed sweetcorn etc? I make sweetcorn fritters for the family.
Are these in the same group as maize? I’m just wondering, as I cook frozen corn as an alternative to rice sometimes. I also have pap (mealie pap) with vegetable potjie.
Have I been eating incorrectly for blood type A? I don’t see corn mentioned in your guidelines in your book.
Thanks Sue and Kindest Regards
P.S. I have been feeling sooooo much better since I began your blood group diet, thank you, thank you!!!
A ) Corn, maize and mealies are the same thing. Either fresh off the cob, as pap or maizena , ditto! These products are best suited to blood type A-secretor, as you will see from the lists on page 16 that show the differences between A-type variants. I have attached more information about the secretor status as it is an important discerning factor. In terms of being gluten free, many dieticians use them as a wheat substitute – but not everybody can tolerate this grain. I know of people who even react badly to popcorn!

Anyone suffering from celiac disease is sensitive not only to the gliadin bearing grains, but to any grain or starch product. I had severe digestive issues for many years in my teens and early twenties. I thought it was IBS, but when I landed up in hospital with bleeding from my intestines five years ago, as well as a severely compromised immune system, I was diagnosed via blood test by a gastroenterologist as having celiac disease. I’ve been living gluten-free (as well as corn-free) now for five years, and have never felt better. If you feel you do not suffer from full-blown coeliac disease, then I try and encourage people to go for the ImuPro 100 Delayed Food Allergy Type III (IgG) test. At R1950 it sounds very expensive, but it is a truly excellent food allergy test. It will be the best test you will have in your whole life! Check out www.wellpro.co.za or go into the German supplier’s website: www.imupro.com In South Africa, you can have a blood sample taken at any Dis-Chem pharmacy and they courier the blood to the laboratory in Westville, Durban. You do not have to go through a doctor. The lab is run by microbiologists and geneticists. They e-mail the results to you within 7-10 days. They also provide you with a 30-page report and diet sheet with recipes personally designed to eliminate your food allergies or sensitivities. You can of course go direct to the lab in Durban. Their phone number is 031-267 7000 The lab is called Molecular Diagnostic Services. Their email address is wellness@mdsafrica.net . Calcium Complex and pain supplement
Q ) Hi Sue I’ve said it before and will say it again — thank you so much for your book, website and products.
I just wanted to find out if it is ok to take the Calcium powder mixed in apple juice – or any fruit juice for that matter.
The juice seems to cut the chalkiness, but I want to make sure I get the most benefit out of the product, especially as I have recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis in some of my vertebrae with the rest of my scanned bits presenting with osteopenia.
I am in a great deal of pain down my spine and have been taking your Pain Supplement for some time now. I can’t take any conventional pain meds as they are a migraine trigger for me. I’ve been told by Elemental Health in Walmer Park, Port Elizabeth, that your agent in PE won’t be stocking the product anymore. Apparently the damp damages it (though I’ve never found that to be the case). I’m down to my last container and would not like to run out of it, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Many thanks. Regards
A )I am glad we can help you and thanks for your appreciation.
1 pain supplement is part of our range of products and always will be because people depend on it. We once tried capsules, but they got all gooey. Your Nature Fresh stockist can order it from our rep in PE. No problem!
2 The Calmag powder is fine in juice. It does taste chalky – grrr. We have made a fabulous discovery, so please share this new recipe with people who take Calmag. It is on our website home page as well at www.naturefresh.co.za
Calmag bone builder hot chocolate.
When you feel like a comforting drink anytime, especially when craving chocolate.
1 teaspoon Nature Fresh Calcium Complex powder
1 teaspoon cocoa powder – use a good brand. (This increases the mineral input)
1 teaspoon xylitol. (This sugar substitute actually enhances calcium uptake.)
1 teaspoon Cremora or milk alternative. (Use a splash of milk otherwise.)
Combine all the ingredients in a mug and fill it with boiling water. Enjoy.
After 2 weeks I noticed a profound difference in the length and strength of my fingernails. My craving for chocolate has gone for good!
Response and a warning about Xylitol: Thanks for the recipe – it is delicious. I just thought I’d mention to you that I seem to have a bad reaction to the xylitol. It gave me the worst stomach cramps, bloating and gas that could be used as a lethal weapon in warfare. Luckily I work from home I didn’t at first associate it with the xylitol, but then I remembered that more than a year ago I had tried it and it had the same effect. So I stopped using it and the bloating went away.
This is what Wikipedia says:
As with other sugar alcohols, with the exception of erythritol, consumption in excess of one’s laxation threshold (the amount of sweetener that can be consumed before abdominal discomfort sets in) can result in temporary gastrointestinal side effects, such as bloating, flatulence, and diarrhoea. Adaptation, an increase of the laxation threshold, occurs with regular intake. Xylitol has a lower laxation threshold than some sugar alcohols, but is more easily tolerated than others such as mannitol and sorbitol.[4][5]
I must have a very low tolerance level, as a level teaspoon was enough to do this to me. So I’m just going have my bone-builder cocoa unsweetened. Anyway, just thought I’d mention it.
A ) Thank you for sharing that – at your expense. I have been trying to find out what is wrong with Xylitol as it sounded too good to be true. I found out that no more than 2 teaspoons a day is beneficial for teeth. As a substitute for normal baking or making ice cream it is lousy – and bad for you, but especially animals.
For all of us we should note the following: Xylitol can kill your dog!
Xylitol and any product that contains it, is very harmful to dogs – and I presume, cats. This includes, cough mixture, throat lozenges, oral hygiene products and especially cakes and sweets (doggie treats)
Looking for olive leaves?
Q ) Where in Durban can i purchase olive leaves as purchasing them as OLIVE LEAF TABLETS is very expensive for me?
A ) Olive trees can be bought at a nursery. Fresh leaves made into a tincture or added to the juicing process work the best. The wild African species that works the best is called Olienhout/ Olea Afra. Durban is not the ideal climate.
The tablets contain about 9 leaves each, hence the cost and why they work so well. Olive leaf tea does not have the same properties and is only used for lowering blood pressure. Your health stockist may be able to obtain the olive leaves for you.
High blood pressure medication – ear buzzing (tinnitus) and olive leaf.
Q ) Subject: Ear noise. Hi Sue. Wonder if u can help. I have been experiencing zinging in the ear day and night and it is effecting my sleep. Have been to ear specialist who advised that it is tinnitus and that there is no medication For it. I am on BP medication and this all happened since my medication was changed. I have since stopped the medication and is only taking 5mg tablet. Please help.
A ) There is a simple solution to high blood pressure and ear buzzing! Nature Fresh Olive leaf tablets have been used by many people as an alternative to high blood pressure medications. Furthermore, olive leaf – like gingko biloba enhances microcirculation. This means that in tiny blood vessels near the ear drum, the blood can flow freely without constriction that causes the racket. There are no negative side effects from taking olive leaf tablets and they can even be used by pregnant and lactating women. Remember that contraceptive pills deplete levels of vitamin B6. This may aggravate water retention and circulation.
Other remedies for blood pressure and hissing and buzzing
(Tinnitus – hey, that diagnosis cost you a lot of money!)
1 Nature Fresh Calcium and magnesium complex with zinc and tissue salts
2 A good slow release multivitamin like Ladyvite that includes vitamin B12
3 Omega 3 oil supplement. Vital cold liver oil capsules will do.
PROBIOTIC – 15 Collitis IBS Candidiasis
Q ) my homeopath gave me the Probiotic-15 liquid concentrate. I am unsure how to use it since he says it will never finish since it is a culture. He suggested I make it with yoghurt. do I mix 5ml of the liquid with a bit of yoghurt and then eat it? I suffer from collitis. Can you please send me clear instructions. regards Annelle
A ) I have attached some info on the PROBIOTIC 15 for you. I hope this answers your questions. There is more about colitis too, should this be of help to you. Eating trigger foods is a big problem, so consider eating for your blood type. Candidiasis and gluten intolerance may also be contributing factors
You may find that large amounts of any probiotic may cause a hardened stool. (Not the whole colon, but just a “plug” at the exit.)This happens to a lot of people and is easily remedied by taking 1-2 grams of vitamin C during the day. Add the vitamin C to a litre of water or diluted juice with a pinch of salt, it makes a big difference.
Liver and Gall bladder flush but no gallbladder?
Q1 ) Hi Sue My gallbladder was removed last month. It has been suggested I do a liver flush (the concoction with grapefruit juice,etc.). Is is safe/ wise to do this now? Many thanks
A ) I presume it better to detox the liver and eat the way people do after they have the op, because now you won’t have a gall bladder to flush! Bear in mind that 90% of the surgery takes place because people do not tolerate wheat. Have a look at my article on gluten intolerance and go easy on all that starch because it raises cholesterol levels. Also consider eating for your blood type to stay out of trouble.
Good liver supplements include: milk thistle, turmeric, gentian and loads of vitamin C.
Solal makes an excellent detox powder you can take before a larger than usual celebratory meal and it softens the blow from adding a glass of wine! Look for: SOLAL DETOX DRINK www.solaltech.com
Parasite treatment for pregnancy, lactation and babies.
Q) I took my 4 month old daughter for a scio treatment and it came up that she has worms..I had a lok at your parasite formula which has a dose for babies, but doesn’t indicate from what age it is safe and then says that pregnant and lactating mothers should not use it. How can I safely treat myself and my daughter? Kind regards
A ) Please share this letter plus the attachments on parasites with your SCIO practitioner and any other friends who may be interested. I am happy to promote practitioners on my website and Keep their details in lists of resources I send out.
PARASITES:
More detailed information can be obtained from the attached article on parasites. Artemisia is an ingredient in the Parasite Remedy. It has a hormonal effect and may upset uterine activity. However, there is no direct caution with regards to babies from age 1 year as far as I know. Here are good alternatives:
Nature Fresh Olive leaf tablets. We have had good reports about them expelling tapeworms! An adult taking 2 – 4 of them for a few weeks told us about the “cobra” that came out. I have no reports about smaller worms yet. Olive leaf is safe for pregnancy, lactation and babies as there is no hormonal interference. We supply a lot for Malaria control and prevention and yes, they cured my husband from Malaria. Tablets can be squashed between two tablespoons and mixed into the cereal, once babies are onto solids. About ½ tablet a day for 1 – 2 weeks a month. If still on liquids, the olive leaf tincture could be added to ½ cup warm water for a few hours prior to drinking to remove the alcohol. You can flavour it with fruit juice. The dose is up to you: try 10 drops a time. A SCIO practitioner can test products to determine suitability. I know the BEST system does so.
Ground up flax seeds. But not for a 4 month old baby. You may take 2 – 3 teaspoons in your cereal. Mothers have said that it works well for toddlers. It is a super food in its own right and worth eating. You can also mix it with cottage cheese. (This is used as Joanna Budwig’s cancer treatment – fascinating, but another topic.)
Cloves, cloves, cloves! Clove powder kills worm eggs. Every 3 weeks the critters breed again when eggs hatch. A SCIO treatment may zap worms, but eggs that inhabit the intestine may keep on breeding. Over the years on the radio , people used to use the clove and honey method. One teaspoon of clove powder is mixed with a spoon or two of honey. These days we have maple syrup or agave nectar as alternatives. Ideally ¼ t or a knife tip of clove powder a day could be tried as a follow-up for the next cycle.( You will have to decide what to do for junior.)
Conventional OTC worm remedies. Combantrin or a similar anti-worm suspension is excellent! My two children grew up on it. I even gave it to the cat, mixed with milk as Siamese tend to tear one to shreds and then pee all over you in reaction to being given worm capsules! Our new PROBIOTIC-15 liquid is available in liquid or a spray. This is handy to boost probiotic levels, to keep Candida under control as it is a favourite conspirator with worms and other parasites.
I hope this can help you to deal with worms. All I can say is thank heavens for SCIO!
Love, Sue Visser
Q2 ) Thanks soo much for your very comprehensive response. I have made my own leaf tincture a couple of years back and have had it stored in a jar, which has not been in direct sunlight,
But also not in dark completely. Do you think it would still be ‘active’? If it is only effective on tapeworm then I still don’t really have a solution for her, as I not imagine it would be tapeworm she has.
Would clove powder be safe to give a 4 month old ? None of the remedies are actually known to be safe for her tender age are they?
You say artemesia could upset uterine activity, does that mean I as a lactating mother I should not use your remedy either ?
A2 ) For now, play it safe and get paediatric worm remedy from the chemist. Your olive leaf tincture should be OK for normal use. Meanwhile, get familiar with all the data so we know for a later stage when she grows up.
