Talk with Zulaikah on Women’s Health Issues

Sep 30, 2016 by Sue Visser

Zulaikha’s Radio interview with Sue on Women’s health problems

1. What causes acne and some tips to help individuals that suffer from it?

The skin pore gets blocked, usually with oil. Bacteria can also infect it. The reaction is to send more blood to the area (swelling and inflammation) and white blood cells, as part of our immune system attack the bacteria and forms pus inside the pore. As we now, this is how pimples are made. At  an ongoing level, a continuous supply of oil, grease, dirt or the body’s own skin lubricant known as sebum will set off pimple or even cyst formation. Even if we remove the grease and dirt and keep the area squeaky clean the pimples can return. Why?

Two reasons, one being hormones like DHT (see notes on PCOS) that stimulate the release of sebum and thus block the pores and secondly, cosmetics that contain oils that behave like sebum. Jojoba oil being the worst one!

What can we do? Use the PCOS protocol to lower levels of DHT: avoid large helpings of carbohydrates, take Chasteberry Tincture and eat plenty of pumpkin seeds, for instance. Check out your cosmetic ingredients. You may notice an explosion of pimples when you use a new product, for instance. (I did – at the age of 60 plus!)

2. Why do some individuals have painful menstrual cycle?

We have already discussed the importance of magnesium, especially for women, during this special month of August. Cramps and pain are mainly due to the uterus lining contracting. It does this to release the bleeding phase of the cycle. Calcium levels in the blood drop just before the  cycle and then flood back in to cause the contractions an so begins the flow. But intermittently magnesium balances out the tight squeeze, to relax the uterus. If there is insufficient magnesium the cramps get more intense.

What solutions can you suggest?

So next time, take more magnesium for the cramps. Better still is to take a complete calcium and magnesium supplement every night and take larger doses during the premenstrual phase. Also take enough Vitamin B6 to stop the swelling, bloating and discomfort.

3. Menopause and the sweet potato treatment.

For most symptoms of menopause progesterone is the hormone of choice. it is a precursor for estrogen and so the body has the best of both hormones. We are all able to make enough progesterone throughout our lives providing we have the precursors. But the popular way is to take hormones and often the body cannot control elevated levels. if the liver is congested the excess progesterone breaks down into “dangerous” 16-hydroxyestrogens and returns to the bloodstream. So the women then suffer from thicker blood, an estrogen excess (adverse 2/16 ratio) and have a higher risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, let alone cancer.

As an alternative,, my DIY method makes use of a natural progesterone precursor that is present in our common red sweet potato (ipomea batatis) When a small piece of fresh, raw sweet potato is chewed so juice is absorbed in the mouth it enters the bloodstream directly. The result products a signal to the pituitary gland and levels of progesterone begin to rise. This system has been successfully used by women around the world for over 15 years! So much for science – just do it , observe it, evaluate it and share it! Full instructions are available, just google it: Sue Visser sweet potato.

4. success story using the sweet potato.

When you restore your own progesterone the body calms down and hoot flushes and other signs of hormonal imbalances begin to lessen. We all still need to balance our diet, eat fewer sweets, more protein and so on, but to get relief without taking HRT or using hormone creams is for me, the secret of my success with this method. It costs a few cents a day and makes perfect sense, as women all around the world have discovered! We also have developed techniques for halting a menstrual cycle (long before “Seasonale” -tye drugs were used). Also for helping ladies to fall pregnant, a suitable quantity, usually one or two finger-sized pieces, when chewed a day is all that is needed. After trying all the available hormone treatment methods, a lady n her forties fell pregnant and called her baby “Patat”.

Dysfunctional Bowel – Gluten to blame?

Jul 25, 2016 by Sue Visser

Gluten sensitivity / dysfunctional bowel letter (August 2011)

Q1 Sue I just found your question and answer section on the net and arrived at this page. I have just moved to Natal from Cape Town as a result of some very difficult circumstances. I was searching for hormone help and found that you advise on so many of my problems. I have a totally dysfunctional bowel and really serious symptoms and nobody has been able to help me come right. I would really value being able to speak to you if that is at all possible. I am truly desperate. Many thanks.

A1 The best person to help you in Durban is my friend Lucille. Unless you approach your food sensitivities there is no drug or pep talk that can help you. This will require a lot of homework and effort on your part but you will have plenty of support and resources.

1 We usually advise to begin with gluten exclusion. Lucille can help you.
2 I further recommend eating for your blood type. Try a month like this and you will feel a big improvement in the way you feel.
3 Clean out the parasites – this really improves bowel health.
4 Take our PROBIOTIC-15 supplement to set up a good balance of gut flora.
5 Hormones are complex. We have tinctures that can help but what really upsets them are diet (gluten and lectins that cause autoimmune problems ie. Blood type), stress, toxins and contraceptive pills. I hope this will help you into a better space.

Love, Sue Visser

Dear Friends, Anyone suffering from celiac disease is sensitive not only to the gliadin bearing grains, but to any grain or starch product. I had severe digestive issues for many years in my teens and early twenties. I thought it was IBS, but when I landed up in hospital with bleeding from my intestines five years ago, as well as a severely compromised immune system, I was diagnosed via blood test by a gastroenterologist as having celiac disease. I’ve been living gluten-free (as well as corn-free) now for five years, and have never felt better. Regards, Lucille.

A2 From Lucille: I believe that anyone who suffers from a “totally dysfunctional bowel” as you put it, has to suspect food sensitivities. I suspect that you may be sensitive to gluten grains (wheat, rye, oats and barley) and possibly dairy products.

If you can give me a few more details about this “totally dysfunctional bowel” I may be able to point you in the right direction for tests.

If you suffer from chronic diarrhoea and/or severe weight loss, you may be suffering from the condition called coeliac disease (pronounced as. see-lee-ack).

In this case you should go to a reputable gastroenterologist like Dr. Funnel at Parklands hospital who will organise the correct blood tests. (See document attached called gluten blood tests). He may even then suggest you have a small bowel biopsy. This is to check for flattened villi in your intestines. Villi are microscopic finger-like projections on the walls of the intestine. They are there to absorb nutrients from food. In the presence of gluten (as in wheat, rye, oats and barley), these villi become damaged and cannot function properly.

If you suffer from constipation or alternating constipation and diarrhoea, you may be suffering from a milder form of the condition called gluten sensitivity or gluten intolerance.

In both cases, you need blood tests first, then you will probably have to follow a gluten free diet. The gluten free diet is for life. You will never “grow out of it”. This is because it is genetic.  You inherited it from one or both parents. I am attaching a lot of documents for your interest. Once you have read the symptom list, please contact me again and let me know what symptoms you suffer from. Where do you live in Natal? You may like to attend a talk I am giving on food allergies and gluten sensitivity on 10th September at the Kloof Methodist Church (see attachment).

If you feel you do not suffer from full-blown coeliac disease, then I try and encourage people to go for the ImuPro 100 Delayed Food Allergy Type III (IgG) test. At R1950 it sounds very expensive, but it is a truly excellent food allergy test. It will be the best test you will have in your whole life! Check out www.wellpro.co.za or go into the German supplier’s website:www.imupro.com  .

In South Africa, you can have a blood sample taken at any Dis-Chem pharmacy and they courier the blood to the laboratory in Westville, Durban. You do not have to go through a doctor. The lab is run by microbiologists and geneticists. They e-mail the results to you within 7-10 days. They also provide you with a 30-page report and diet sheet with recipes personally designed to eliminate your food allergies or sensitivities. You can of course go direct to the lab in Durban. Their phone number is 031-267 7000 The lab is called Molecular Diagnostic Services. Their email address is wellness@mdsafrica.net

Thank you very much indeed for your reply Sue. It is much appreciated. My case is very severe and very complex because it also involves a functional bowel disorder. I am at my wit’s end .I have not had gluten for years and don’t think my body can cope with the blood type diet as I need to be eating meat as an O positive and with a dysfunctional bowel that is out of the question. Something has gone wrong with the nerve function in the bowel. I had a bowel prolapse op last year and don’t know if this has gone wrong now but I am in Durban and can’t get to see Dr. Elliot. anyway thank you for your input. It is much appreciated.

An iodine deficiency does not only affect the Thyroid gland

Jul 25, 2016 by Sue Visser

IODINE – FACTS AND FALLACIES

Most of our iodine is stored in the thyroid gland but did you know that iodine is also present in breast tissue, the stomach, skin and other places?

According to micro nutritionists, most of our diseases are affected by a deficiency of minerals, vitamins, enzymes and other key nutrients. If we correct the nutritional shortfall we can theoretically recover from the ailment. How about iodine? We take thyroid hormones when the metabolism slows down, yet still complain about weak finger nails, heart burn, stomach ulcers, fibrocystic breasts, polycystic ovaries, dry skin, a dry mouth and even dry eyes. We get cancer, take antibiotics to fight off infections and suffer from estrogen imbalances. Is this potpourri of maladies somehow linked to the protective and functional roles that iodine plays in human health?

To most of us, a healthy iodine status is a misnomer. We take it for granted that the traces we ingest from salt are sufficient unto the day and top up with kelp tablets from time to time. Such a casual approach does not supply enough iodine to fight off infections or control hormones. It cannot protect us from cancer, fibrocystic breast disease or ovarian cysts. So we revert to drugs, surgery and hormonal intervention yet we fail to check up on our iodine status.

Fortunately these days some doctors do understand just how important our iodine status is. They are what we call: iodine literate and have overcome the “iodophobia” that has infected the logic of medical practice until recently. So if you need to check up on just how well you are ingesting and responding to iodine consider the advice and treatments for which Dr David Brownstein has become so well known. (www.drbrownstein.com) Dr Jonathan V. Wright is another very pro-active iodine researcher who recommends not only daily supplementation with iodine but also specific treatment for acute or chronic conditions. (www.fsphealth.co.za)

What Has Happened to Our Iodine Reserves?

If potassium iodide levels are too low the thyroid gland swells up to absorb more of it from the bloodstream. At below 150 mcg a day, iodine is seriously lacking and the neck swells up to form a goitre as a desperate attempt to absorb more iodine from the bloodstream. We cannot get enough iodine from iodated salt. We are told to cut out salt at the best of times and only 10% of this iodine is active due to the competing effect of chloride from the salt.

The bromide that is present in bread and all grain-based products that contain this pesticide ousts our iodine. Chlorine from water also lowers our iodine status. Fluoride present in water, antidepressants (like prozac), mouthwash or toothpaste also drives out the iodine and hence people complain of a dry mouth or a lack of saliva and even dry eyes. A lack of saliva (dry mouth) increases the extent of tooth decay, mouth infections and bad breath. So why do we use fluoride? The chief iodine thieves are: chlorine, bromide and fluoride. With no incoming iodine and daily iodine depletion we become increasingly iodine deficient.

How much Iodine do we Really Need?

How much iodine is required for optimal health? Dr Brownstein says that the RDA of 150-200 mcg of iodine is hopelessly inadequate to maintain all its functions in the body. The thyroid gland needs 6 mg a day, the breasts need 5 mg and at least another 2 mg are required in other areas such as the skin and the stomach’s parietal cells where hydrochloric acid is made. When an adequate iodine status has been achieved he tells us that iodine can reach breast tissue, fat cells and striated muscle tissue. Iodine binds to antiproliferative iodolipids (fat+iodine) to control cancer. This does not happen if we are iodine deficient, so we get cancer.

One of the best methods to determine your iodine status is a 24 hour iodine loading test. Firstly a urine sample is taken and then you are given a 50 mg dose of iodine. After 24 hours another urine sample will indicate how much iodine was taken up. Some people suggest painting a patch of iodine onto your skin. This is not an accurate assessment as iodine is pH sensitive. The more acidic the skin, the quicker the stain disappears! (Now you know how to get rid of iodine marks – just wipe them away with a vitamin C solution or lemon juice). Do not take iodine with anything acidic because it nullifies the antimicrobial effects.

Iodine supplementation is safe enough because excessive iodine will be removed by the kidneys every day. Lugol’s iodine solution can be obtained from health shops and pharmacies. It is a combination of potassium iodide and elemental iodine in an aqueous solution. The average dose is 2-3 drops, once or twice a day as recommended by a knowledgeable pharmacist or doctor. It can be applied to the skin and absorbed that way. In some countries a comprehensive iodine supplement in tablet form is available.

Not everybody tolerates seaweed of shellfish which cause more iodine allergies as opposed to mineral-based sources. A new deodorant cream is now available that contains iodine. It can be applied underarm and massaged into breast tissue. However, when one is fighting infections, alkalising or warding off cancer and correcting hormone ratios, a lot more iodine is required from time to time. To the degree that iodine is not available to undertake such critical tasks, we get into trouble.

Iodine Kills Bacteria, Mould, Viruses and Other Microbes

Every 17 minutes our blood flows over the iodine that is stored in the thyroid gland to control microbes and pathogens. E coli and Helicobacter pylori are initially zapped by this stash of iodine. If there is none and you eat infected food, you come down with a stomach bug accompanied by vomiting and diarrhoea. When Helicobacter pylori gets the upper hand, stomach ulcers develop. We take antibiotics for these conditions yet fail to treat the iodine deficiency.

Stomach acid cannot maintain a bug-zapping intensity because iodine is an essential ingredient of stomach acid. Sodium chloride + iodine = good strong hydrochloric acid. Pass the salt! Hair loss, weak fingernails and poor food assimilation improves when the stomach acid becomes more intense. Heartburn is due to too much stomach acid that is too weak to kill microbes, let alone help to digest and assimilate your food or chelate any calcium out of it. Taking loads of antacids and inhibiting stomach acid production do not treat an iodine deficiency.

Iodine thus kills microbes in the bloodstream and it is one of our primary infection fighters. This is why it is also present in our nasal and respiratory passages. Constant respiratory (colds and flu) or gut infections (vomiting, nausea or diarrhoea) indicate low iodine reserves long before thyroid hormone deficiencies show up and the body slows down. Iodine is required to make thyroid hormones to keep our metabolic rate optimal. If not, the body temperature becomes too low and once again, opportunistic microbes invade our tissues and are often to blame for chronic fatigue and aches and pains we refer to as fibromyalgia.

Iodine is a Girl’s “Breast” Friend

How does an iodine deficiency affect breast cancer? Toxins gather into lumps that are acidic and contain microbial infestations. If iodine is not present to neutralise acidity and kill bacteria and other mycotoxins that migrate there, they start to multiply. Cells divide excessively and grow into tumours when iodine is not actively modifying hormonal effects on cell receptors. According to the research of Dr Benjamin Eskin, breast cells that lacked iodine appeared to be more likely to become abnormal, precancerous or cancerous.

A major source of pathogenic material in breasts comes from mycotoxins when there is a deficiency of beneficial gut flora. When a biofilm develops around this microbial bundle of mischief it escapes the vigilance of the immune system. If a breast that contains such a biofilm is exposed to radiation (mammograms or X rays) then strands of DNA are damaged. The estrogen present in fat cells sets off cell proliferation to repair it. If iodine can’t be there to control the cell dividing messengers then we get more of those “lumps”.

Iodine kills cancerous cells without killing off normal cells. Iodine does not weaken your immune system, make you nauseous or cause your hair to fall out. It helps to break down cell proliferating forms of estrogen that accumulate there from sources such as HRT, environmental estrogens (xenoestrogens), soya-based products and other phyto estrogens. Is the average case of breast cancer a killer disease or an iodine deficiency?

Iodine is a built-in deodorant. 20% of the iodine we need is used in skin cells. Lack of iodine in the sweat glands manifests as dry skin with a decreased ability to sweat. After a bath or shower we immediately apply a deodorant. Why? Because chlorine removes the iodine in sweat glands. It should be there to control odour from bacteria. It is normal to sweat and excrete metabolic waste substances like urea on the skin. Bacteria grows here very quickly and so, ideally, iodine should control it and maintain the pH balance.

Perspiration or should we say sweat, is an excretory process that naturally tips out waste material. If we inhibit perspiration the waste builds up in lymph tissue under the arms and is as we know, very close to the breasts. Should we use iodine as a deodorant? It’s pretty obvious. An iodine-based cream deodorant helps to solve iodine deficiencies at the scene of the crime and it is easily absorbed for further applications within breast tissue.

An iodine deficiency is also directly proportionate to the presence and amount of cysts in the ovaries. In its extreme form, this condition is known as polycystic ovarian disease. Fibrocystic breast disease (painful breasts with nodules and cysts) is another iodine deficiency that responds very well to iodine treatment. Doctor Jonathan Wright witnessed a colleague of his using iodine to treat ladies who were suffering from fibrocystic breast disease at a medical conference. The iodine was applied to their vaginal mucosa. Within 30 minutes they were free from most of the pain and swelling. A few weeks later their breasts became normal after daily iodine supplementation.

Iodine is easily absorbed by the skin and mucous membranes or it can be taken in supplement form. For convenience you can place a few drops of Lugol’s iodine onto a brewer’s yeast tablet. You can make yourself a supply of these and take one or two a day. A lady who did this was delighted to see her large, lumpy and swollen breasts return to normal and her fears of having cancer were unfounded. Taking more vitamin B6 thereafter decreased her premenstrual breast discomfort.

A Good Way to Prevent Cancer is to Understand What Iodine Does

Cells have thousands of estrogen receptors. There are two types; alpha and beta and they are like switches that react to a hormonal signal. The alpha receptor is the on, or divide switch and it favours acidity. Cancer is basically a potent form of estrogen (16- or 17- type) engaging fully on the links of an alpha receptor that initiates cell division in order to repair damaged areas. To shut down this activity, the environment needs to become more alkaline so that oxygenation can take place. Then the beta estrogen receptor can engage with the cancer fighting 2- or weaker estrogens like estriol to switch off the cell division when the job is done.

Iodine is a potent alkalising agent and helps to oxygenate areas that may become prone to cancer when acidity is present. Furthermore iodine actually breaks down the complex 16- or 17- forms of estrogen into simpler 2- estrogens that help to prevent cancer and fibrocystic disease. Iodine binds to fat and produces antiproliferative lipids from fatty acids that are present in breast tissue. With the help of a healthy immune system iodine helps to destroy cancerous cells, yet leaves the normal cells intact.

Maintaining a favourable colony of beneficial gut bacteria also speeds up the break down of complex estrogen to maintain a favourable 2/16 (good versus bad) estrogen ratio. A urine test can indicate if you have a dominance of harmful 16- estrogen. This is a less invasive way to see if you are becoming vulnerable to breast and other forms of cancer. By maintaining a healthy population of beneficial gut flora we can also facilitate the 2/16 estrogen ratio. It is a fallacy that the yeast we call candida is a “disease.” It is the food of your probiotic strains! It is only when you wipe out good bacteria with antibiotics or herbs like echinacea, golden seal or oregano that this candida yeast becomes a problem. Candida then decomposes into over 71 deadly forms of fungus and moulds (candidiasis) that can migrate to breast tissue and other places.

What about parabens and breast cancer, you may be wondering? The reason a paraben would be found in breast tissue would be due to pathogens such as bacteria and mycotoxins that are the real cancer culprit! Parabens are large group of organic acids found in nature and they feed off mycotoxins. They are present in mangoes, grenadillas, green tea, cocoa and even strawberries! They serve as natural organic preservatives by consuming the waste material derived from the breakdown of yeasts such as candida albicans.

There is no conclusive evidence that parabens can cause cancer. 90% of the parabens that are present in breast tissue come from food sources. The antimicrobial role of parabens is similar to that of iodine. The hormonal activity of a paraben is hardly an estrogen disruptor! Estrogen disruptors are the complex or 16- based estrogens, such as xenoestrogens that have a bad reputation. The good guys are the weak estrogens, especially the isoflavones that we call SERMS (selective estrogen receptor modulators). They help to deflect cell-proliferating estrogens from the alpha (cancer causing) receptors. Best known are red clover and soy isoflavones. In this way, parabens also serve as SERMS but they are 600 000x weaker than red clover.

People who are deficient in iodine become more vulnerable to thyroid cancer, stomach cancer, breast cancer and ovarian cancer. According to well documented research an iodine deficiency causes decreased resistance to malignancies. Iodine and selenium are key minerals in fighting cancer and strengthening the immune system. Selenium is a mineral that helps to protect the chromosomes. We can take more probiotics, vitamin C, vitamin D and omega 3 oils to facilitate our resistance to cancer. We can top up on calcium and magnesium supplements to maintain systemic alkalinity. To fight cancer on the battlefront we rely heavily on cruciferous vegetables, but DIM capsules are more effective. To the degree we neglect adequate supplementation we make ourselves more vulnerable to cancer, so don’t forget the iodine!

From the Internet: a warning about X ray protection for thyroid

On Wednesday, Dr. Oz had a show on the fastest growing cancer in women, thyroid cancer. It was a very interesting program and he mentioned that the increase could possibly be related to the use of dental x-rays and mammograms. He demonstrated that on the apron the dentist puts on you for your dental x-rays there is a little flap that can be lifted up and wrapped around your neck. Many dentists don’t bother to use it. Also, there is something called a “thyroid guard” for use during mammograms. By coincidence, I had my yearly mammogram yesterday. I felt a little silly, but I asked about the guard and sure enough, the technician had one in a drawer. I asked why it wasn’t routinely used. Answer: “I don’t know. You have to ask for it.” Well, if I hadn’t seen the show, how would I have known to ask? Someone was nice enough to forward this to me. I hope you pass this on to your friends and family.

Coleus Forskohlii

Jul 12, 2016 by Sue Visser

Coleus Forskohlii: the missing link to generate cyclic AMP (cAMP)

By Health researcher: Sue Visser

Forskolin is the pharmacologically active compound found in Coleus Forskohlii which has been used in over 5000 research studies since 1974.

Cyclic Adenosene Monophosphate

The enzyme adenylate cyclase is activated by forskolin. This regulates the formation of cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate) a compound that in turn exerts control over numerous activities in every cell. Raised cAMP promotes the inhibition of mast cell degranulation and histamine release, inhibition of platelet activation and degranulation, increased force of contraction of heart muscle, relaxation of the arteries and other smooth muscles, increased insulin secretion, increased thyroid function, and increased lipolysis (fat breakdown). It appears to exhibit potent immune system enhancement by activating macrophages & lymphocytes.

Benefits of Coleus

Coleus (Forskolin) helps to treat: hypertension, mild congestive heart failure, asthma, eczema and psoriasis, digestive weakness and IBS, persistent urinary infections, is anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and soothing to the nervous system. It is vital to communication between hormones and neurotransmitters to treat symptoms of low oestrogen or testosterone, dopamine and catecholamine activity. Coleus is effective for weight loss and fat burning with prevention of subsequent fat storage. Also aids digestion and stimulates thyroid function to speed up metabolism. Helps release stored glycogen from the liver to balance low blood sugar. Aids in sugar metabolism for treatment of insulin resistance – syndrome X (diabetes 2,) PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and obesity.Forskolin has been shown to be safe and effective and has a great potential as a sports supplement.

Coleus for fat loss

Coleus has many fat loss mechanisms and helps to balance cortisol and blood sugar: Forskolin in Coleus stimulates signaling agents within adipose tissue, leading to the breakdown of triglycerides and the subsequent release of fatty acids and glycerol into the bloodstream. During endurance exercise, these fatty acids are extracted from the bloodstream and burned as a fuel to provide ATP energy to the exercising muscle. In turn, fat cells shrink in size, helping overweight patients reduce their body fat more efficiently. Many of these people have a resistance to burning fat caused by higher serum insulin levels and insulin resistance (syndrome X), which tends to lock fatty acids and triglycerides in fat cells, reducing the fat-burning ability.

Digestion:

Coleus stimulates digestive enzymes: improving digestion and food assimilation and increases nutrient absorption in the small intestine. It increases thyroid hormone production as well as stimulates thyroid hormone release. Increasing the thyroid activity (comparable in strength to thyrotropin or TSH2) results in an increase in metabolism. An increase in cyclic AMP leads to subsequent activation of protein kinase that activates the hormone sensitive lipase which is involved in the breakdown of triglycerides, known as building blocks of fatty tissue. This is a thermogenic effect. It also helps release stored glycogen from the liver to balance low blood sugar. Insulin is important for carbohydrate metabolism but it is also involved in the metabolism of fats and proteins in controlling weight.

Safety

Safe, no side effects and many other benefits. Coleus does not cause tachycardia; “sudden-death” heart attack; stroke; nervousness; anxiety; insomnia; seizures; or other serious adverse side-effects associated with the use of ephedra (Ma Huang). Coleus forskohlii does not stimulate the central nervous system. It has no long-term side effects.

Cardiovascular Effects:

Congestive Heart Failure. Increased levels of cAMP increase the ability of the heart muscle to produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy required for heart-muscle contraction and its optimal force with each beat (increased stroke volume). Forskolin also relaxes the artery wall, decreasing blood pressure and preload stress on the heart muscle. All of these effects appear to be mediated via increased cAMP synthesis, which acts as a secondary messenger on various cellular processes.

Hypertension: forskolin relaxes blood vessel smooth muscles via increased cAMP synthesis, helping to reduce high blood pressure by reducing resistance to blood flow. Forskolin antagonizes the action of platelet-activating factor (PAF) by interfering with the binding of PAF to receptor sites on cells. In turn, this reduces platelet stickiness and smooth muscle contraction of blood vessels and bronchiole air passageways. Again, these effects are mediated through increased synthesis of cAMP. A preliminary trial found that coleus reduced blood pressure and improved heart function in people with cardiomyopathy. Coleus also increases cerebral blood flow, indicating that it may be beneficial in cerebral vascular insufficiency, and in enhancing post-stroke recovery.

Asthma manifests as a relative decrease in cAMP in the skin and bronchial smooth muscles. Most modern drugs for allergic symptoms are designed to increase cAMP levels. Coleus Forskohlii achieves this through improving enzyme activity without negative side effects. Coleus is an effective smooth muscle relaxer, resulting in bronchodilation, decreased airway resistance, increased vital capacity and increased forced expiratory volume. This action is the result of the increase in Cyclic AMP caused by coleus. Methylxanthine-containing drugs inhibit phosphodiesterase enzyme, which breaks down cAMP.

Psoriasis: Low levels of cAMP appear to disrupt its balance with cGMP (cyclic guanine monophosphate). This imbalance has been shown to cause rapid cellular proliferation (a rate that is 1,000 times faster than normal cells), which is a main feature of the psoriatic condition. In experimental studies, coleus forskohlii has been shown to slow the proliferation rate of skin cells by improving the relative balance of cAMP to cGMP. Topical application of Nature Fresh Bee Balm has proved to be very effective in removal of scales and restoring normal skin. Supplement with omega 3 oils, follow the blood type diet and avoid foods containing arachidonic acid eg: fatty meat, peanuts, coconut & dairy fat. Also avoid excessive omega 6 oils found in sunflower, corn and cottonseed oil. Only use olive oil.

Depression associated with an imbalance of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine. Recent study sows that increasing Cyclic AMP elevates the catecholamines (neurotransmitters: epinephrine, norepinephrine). Since forskolin elevates Cyclic AMP, it may improve neurotransmitter function and thereby help to relieve depression. Nature Fresh MEGAMAX helps to raise dopamine and testosterone levels associated with male depression. Parkinson’s disease is also a disturbance of these neurotransmitters and the use of Coleus and MEGAMAX is proving to be very helpful when combined with vitamin B6 and omega 3 oil supplements. When combined with disciplined eating and a structured exercise regimen, patients can reduce their dependence on medications that have unpleasant effects.

Male and female “menopause” responds to coleus. Although testosterone levels diminish with age, some men with normal levels may also experience symptoms of low testosterone. This is because the testosterone present may be in a bound form that renders it inactive or there is a problem with the hormone communicating with its receptors. Raising levels of cyclic AMP (adenosine monophosphate) by introducing forskolin from a COLEUS supplement is certainly beneficial in this respect. It may be all that is needed to restore a man’s former prowess. It is far safer than reaching for aphrodisiacs or sexual one-off’s that may interfere with high blood pressure, blood sugar, heart medications, etc.

What are the symptoms of low testosterone in older men?

Tiredness, irritability, lowered libido, aching joints, dry skin, insomnia, excessive sweating, hot flushes and depression. It is no coincidence that these symptoms overlap with a lack of cyclic AMP! Many older women have similar complaints and call it menopause. Is this the whole story? Instead of reaching for HRT, coleus would be a far safer choice to restore communication with estrogen and testosterone receptors. With males a testosterone (and cAMP) deficiency in the long-term causes: bone density to decrease, a loss of muscle tone, sperm counts to drop and erectile failure occurs more frequently. Females with low testosterone also experience a lack of sexual arousal and can’t perform. It is not always oestrogen supplementation that hot-flushing women need. Overdoing the oestrogen to ward off a so-called lack of it results in undesirable side effects such as weight gain, sore swollen breasts and a stand-offish attitude to both men and sex. Just a few drops of Coleus tincture every day can change all that!

What other products can help older men and women with these problems?

1 Zinc prevents testosterone from converting (aromatising) to oestrogen. Take 15 – 30 mg of zinc per day. (Nature Fresh MEGASLIM includes 15mg of zinc and 200mg of coleus per capsule). Although some foods are rich in zinc, we don’t eat nearly enough oysters or pumpkin seeds every day to keep oestrogen and DHT (dihydrotestosterone) at bay.

2 Omega 3 oil is very important to enhance the effects of cyclic AMP. Eat plenty of oily fish from the cold seas, but take a fish oil supplement like salmon or cod liver oil capsules every day.

3 To boost the release and formation of testosterone, take the Nature Fresh Tribulus Terrestris tincture or the MEGAMAX capsules. They help to control testosterone pathways and release dopamine. Good for ladies and men.

4 For ladies with specific menstrual and menopausal complaints, choose the correct Nature Fresh herbal hormone balancing tincture from the range: Red Clover, Black Cohosh, Agnus Castus and Red Sweet potato. (See notes).

5 Nature Fresh Calcium Complex: a very important part of maintaining general health and wellbeing and to look after bones and joints at all ages. Magnesium is vital to cyclic AMP activity. (See Calcium notes).

6 Nature Fresh Prostate Remedy: for men who are already experiencing urinary discomfort.

Average Coleus tincture dose: ½ teaspoon in ½ cup water 2 – 3x per day. 1 hour before meals. Alternatively: take a few drops under the tongue every 2-3 hours in acute conditions.

Intimate Hygiene

Intimate Hygiene

Intimate cleansers with the correct pH

These notes were written in consultation with a top Cape Town gynaecologist. He requested alternative products for his patients to maintain a healthier vaginal environment. This research work was undertaken over ten years ago. I suggested a vaginal cleanser that would be acidic so that the mucous membranes would not be challenged by alkaline soaps. Our rooibos and tea tree intimate cleansers were the result.

Tea Tree Intimate Cleanser Rooibos Intimate Cleanser
They have now been upgraded, with alternatives to PARABENS, SLES / SLS due to public demand. The rooibos cleanser is enriched with 15 strains of probiotics and this is essential to maintain yeast problems. If there is a deficiency of probiotics, yeast proliferates. The yeast becomes pathogenic when it converts to mould and fungal forms, called mycotoxins. Mycotoxins migrate to other parts of the body, especially breast tissue.

Personal lubricants with a pH correction

I received a call from the gynaecologist who had a patient complaining about KY jelly. It was causing a “ sticky” effect and she found sex to be painful. Our formulation is pH 3.5 and is a water based product. We added tea tree oil to help control infections. It soon became a popular lubricant and a comforting gel for vaginal irritations. The tea tree variant has been used by doctors to treat vaginal candidiasis. They recommend inserting a tampon that has been coated with the tea tree lubricant. The PROBIOTIC – 15 solution can also be included.

Are parabens the bad guys?

The presence of parabens in breast tissue causes alarm, but in fact, parabens are substances present in many natural foods such as mangoes, granadillas, vanilla, cocoa, etc. Parabens are not estrogenic in any way. They are part of the benzoate group and they help to protect us from pathogenic forms of microbes, especially mycotoxins. Over 90% of the parabens that are present in our body come from the natural plant-based food that we eat. People tend to react to the word “parabens”, thinking that they are xenoestrogens that can cause cancer. This is not true.
After using antibiotics we are advised to replace beneficial bacteria also known as gut flora that are killed unintentionally. However, there are natural antibiotics that can adversely affect our resident population of beneficial microbes. Anything “natural” that destroys bacteria will also need probiotic compensation if it is used in large, repeated doses.

Bacterial infections (successfully) treated by: Echinacea, propolis, goldenseal, oregano extracts and even excessive doses of garlic will wipe out the good bacteria that need to be replaced. If not, you remain vulnerable to dysbiosis and especially mould-based infections that cause cancer or weaken the immune system.

Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria that live in the gut and make up over 80% of the immune system. Low levels of gut flora cannot control the growth of candida-based yeasts that then proliferate and causes over 72 types of infections.

Lactic acid in Nature Fresh PROBIOTIC-15 has nothing to do with milk. It is a strong sterilizing compound. It suppresses harmful micro organisms and breaks down and ferments the fibre we eat such as lignin and cellulose. It also produces antibacterial compounds that are known as bacteriocins that attack pathogenic bacteria, yeasts and moulds.

Probiotics neutralize toxins, remove heavy metals and create vitamins in the gut.

They help to speed up the elimination of toxic waste in the bowel and naturally bulk up the stool and balance the water content as do laxatives and fibre supplements.

They also keep cholesterol and triglyceride levels in check.

Probiotics break down excessive hormone levels to control oestrogen dominance.

A plant-derived combination of ingeniously versatile probiotic strains provided by EM (effective microbe) technology has inspired two new products. 25 years of research and development in Japan created this new EM technology and it has now been introduced to South Africa. Our formulation includes colloidal silver. The Spray version has an additional 10% colloidal sliver. It is quick and convenient to use directly onto affected areas such as sore throats, Candida, etc. It can be used on foods such as lettuce.

Vegan-friendly PROBIOTIC-15 concentrated liquid with selenium

PROBIOTIC-15 is a liquid concentrate of the three basic families of probiotic strains: lactobacillus, phototropic probiotics (similar to blue-green algae) and beneficial yeasts that do not cause candidiasis. These beneficial microbes consume the trouble making candida! When we take antibiotics and even large and frequent doses of herbs like goldenseal, oregano oil, echinacea or propolis we kill off the beneficial gut microbes as well. In other words, we compromise over 80% of the immune system and that is why we suffer from candida and constipation!

It is not about the amount of each microbe you need but more the variety of strains. Microbes grow by themselves so the latest trend is to provide a larger selection that will then take care of establishing a healthy population of beneficial bacteria. This creates a synergistic effect: more from less because they interact with each other to enhance our health in diverse ways. All we need is a liquid “seeding” concentration of the 15 species and they will grow on food, molasses, yoghurt or even a glass of water at room temperature. The TMA (total microbial action) of PROBIOTIC-15 liquid concentrate doubled within a few days when a teaspoon of it was left in a glass of water at room temperature. It just keeps on growing!

The daily dose is 5 – 15 ml. This also provides 200 mcg of selenium. In South Africa we are deficient in selenium – the antioxidant mineral that helps to prevent cancer and HIV / AIDS. Minute quantities of herbal extracts are introduced to work at a vibrational level: peppermint, hypericum and devil’s claw. Add 5ml per 500ml water to drink overnight or early morning.

PROBIOTIC-15 can also be diluted 5 ml per ½ litre and used on the skin, as a hair rinse, a vaginal douche or as an enema. Use it to soak and sanitize your fruit and vegetables and then tip the water onto your pot plants!

PROBIOTIC-15 spray 10% with colloidal silver and selenium

A spray-on version of the PROBIOTIC-15 liquid concentrate with: an additional 10% colloidal silver solution. According to research colloidal silver does not affect the beneficial microbes and it enhances its germ fighting effects. It is great for immune boosting, first aid, to sanitize chopping boards, toilet seats etc. It can be sprayed directly onto food, especially if you do not trust the salad! Treat raw fish, chicken, etc before storing or cooking. Food stays fresher and free of nasty gut bugs. Ideal for lettuce or raw food you eat when don’t trust it.

Symptoms of vaginal disorders and suggested treatment.

Disclaimer: this information is to provide some background information on intimate problems. It was compiled with the support and approval of a gynaecologist. The data should not be used for self-diagnosis or treatment of a condition. It is the responsibility of a qualified health practitioner to examine and treat the patient and recommend a treatment.

Candida, discharges, rashes dryness and vaginitis have common causes but may be symptoms of more serious infections. Natural remedies are safe and soothing and can be used with medications. For a more comprehensive explanation, the following links will explain more about the problem.

BURNING, ITCHING, RASHES AND SWELLING OF THE VULVA

First check through the list of common causes and take the appropriate action. Then use these suggestions for relief:

CLEANSING: rinse the area in a weak solution of cider vinegar and salty water. Rooibos, Echinacea, hypericum, calendula or suitable herbal teas make excellent rinsing and douching agents, especially when acidified with a few drops of lemon juice, cider vinegar and a spoon or two of salt. Never use bicarb or alkaline soaps as the vagina must remain acidic. Special acidic cleansing solutions are available and Nature Fresh make a herbal vaginal cleanser with Tea tree Oil or a milder Rooibos formulation. It can also be used every day in the bath and shower for general use or diluted to 5ml per cup of warm water if a douche is required. You can buy a special apparatus from the pharmacy called a Whirling Spray, made by the manufacturers of Barium enema’s. If you cannot find one, a baby’s enema or a large syringe without the needle will have to do. Only douche the vagina if your practitioner recommends it. Ladies are often confused about using soap. Keep it away from the vaginal cavity, but it can be used on the vulva or outer region. If you are not sure, use a product that is compatible for both areas.

SOOTHING: Pat yourself dry and apply a natural Calendula or Vitamin E cream to areas that are red and sore. A natural lubricating gel can also be applied frequently to stop itching and chafing. Nature Fresh make a mild gel with Tea Tree oil for infected areas or use their hypoallergenic Natural Personal Lubricant. These gels can be used throughout the day for interim cleansing when applied to cotton wool and used after going to the toilet, especially during menstruation.

REDUCING THE SWELLING: Inflammation can be reduced by taking Cantharis Compound Drops by Weleda. It has an anti-histamine action. Take a few drops directly on the tongue or in a glass of water. The tissue salt FERRUM PHOS reduces inflammation. You can suck four tablets every half hour until the pain subsides and then take them at longer intervals. Follow the ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PROGRAMME for long-term relief.

STOPPING THE PAIN: Some people find that ice packs help reduce the pain and swelling. Try wetting a sanitary pad, wrap it in a waterproof plastic bag and freeze it. If this works, make a few more so you can exchange them. Take a painkiller as a last resort or ask the pharmacy for a topical anaesthetic such as Xylotox or Lignocaine.

WEEPY SORES, OOZING PUS, AND VERY SENSITIVE LESIONS:

These conditions are due to infections which should be diagnosed and treated by a doctor. In cases of recurrent Herpes, long-term treatment with cream containing L-lysine (an amino acid) seems to prevent the sores from appearing again in the same place. The whole area must be covered in cream daily especially if a new outbreak of sores is starting. Taking L-lysine supplements is recommended as well as following the ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PROGRAMME. For weepy infected sores, use the medications that are given to you by the doctor. Herbal creams containing calendula can also help. Some people swab with diluted tinctures of calendula and echinacea or use herbal teas. Herbs like plantain (ribwort) , rooibos and comfrey are very soothing. Use the advice in the previous paragraph to treat pain and swelling and try not to wear tight pants and synthetic fabrics.

ABNORMAL VAGINAL DISCHARGES:

The shedding of vaginal tissue produces a residue on underwear. It can appear a few times a month, but if no unusual odour or colour is present and it is not profuse, the discharge is normal. Eating certain foods rich in amino acids can cause a different effect, especially: bean sprouts, alfalfa, garlic, chillies and certain curry spices. If you are eating a lot of these foods and stop for a few days, this unusual odour or discharge will disappear and there should be no more cause for alarm. If no itching, swelling, inflammation or redness of the vulva is present then a discharge is not abnormal or a sign of a serious infection.

The following discharges, accompanied by vaginal irritation indicate the presence of an infection:

1 Thick white clots that look like cream cheese: A creamy white discharge is known as leucorrhea. The Candida Albicans fungus is always present in vaginal mucous and if it proliferates, a white curdy type of residue may occur but it usually does not have a bad odour. If large amounts develop it may indicate a Candida infection known as Thrush where yeast like organisms begin to take over. This may happen after a course of antibiotics when friendly bacteria or probiotics have been eradicated. Candida can grow on the sides of the vulva, the vagina and the cervix as well as in other parts of the body like the mouth and digestive tract. Roots of this fungus grow into the upper layers of skin and mucous tissue, causing pain, inflammation and itching.

2 A profuse discharge: enough to require wearing a sanitary towel between periods. You may also be having griping pains, intermittent fevers, nausea and feel weak, depressed and listless.

3 An offensive discharge: with a putrefying smell and a change of colour to yellow or a darker colour. It may become foamy and be streaked with blood and be accompanied by vaginal inflammation, painful intercourse and difficulty in urinating.

These symptoms indicate the need for medical treatment. There may be a uterine infection or the presence of a sexually transmitted disease (STD). A number of tests are available for identification of the organisms that could be a virus, bacteria or protozoa. These infections should be caught in their early stages so that irreversible damage to the reproductive system and the rest of the body does not occur. Patent drugs and antibiotics are used to eradicate most of these conditions but some of the strains have become resistant to treatment. Special diets, herbal remedies and food supplements can also help. Many of these diseases can be prevented and a healthy immune system is the best line of defence along with taking precautions when having sex with a number of casual partners. One should not only rely on condoms as the AIDS virus is 70 times smaller than a sperm cell. STD organisms are also transmitted via blood and saliva in many cases and the herpes virus is extremely contagious.

Early symptoms of common sexually transmitted diseases are:

AIDS(Acquired immunodeficiency Syndrome) Headache, night sweats, weight loss, fatigue, swollen lymph glands, fever, diarrhoea, lung infections.

CHLAMYDIA: a white discharge, pain when urinating, itching and painful intercourse.

GENITAL HERPES: Genital itching and burning, a watery discharge, painful urination and weepy sores in the vulva or vagina that take a few days or weeks to heal. The nerve endings around these ulcers become inflamed and there is a lot of pain. Chronic herpes upsets the nervous system, resulting in anxiety and depression as well as frustration and a feeling of low self-worth.

GENITAL WARTS: Single clusters of warts caused by the papilloma virus grow around the vagina, anus and vulva. It is believed that the same virus is responsible for cervical dysplasia whereby abnormal tissue is formed in the cervix. It may be a precancerous condition of the cervix.

A pap smear or sample of cervical tissue should be undertaken to establish a diagnosis.

GONORRHEA: Frequent and painful urination, cloudy vaginal discharge, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic inflammation and vaginal itching. Females often show no symptoms and usually transmit this disease to unsuspecting males especially without the protection of a condom.

PELVIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE(PID): A purulent vaginal discharge with fever and lower abdominal pain.

SYPHILIS: Sores in the vulva or vagina, a rash, patches of flaking tissue, a fever, sore throat and sores in the mouth or anus. It is contracted through physical contact such as kissing.

TRICHONOMIASIS: Vaginal itching and pain, with a watery foamy greenish or yellow odourless discharge.

BREAKTHROUGH BLEEDING AND SPOTTING

Should you be alarmed by a discharge of blood between periods?

The release of blood from the uterus into the vagina at an unexpected time is known as spotting or breakthrough bleeding. It is reported that most women immediately think they have cancer but fortunately they can be put at ease. Unless the discharge of blood is accompanied by symptoms such as pain, debility, cramps, inflammation and it also contains cervical tissue, mucous or offensive smelling debris, there is no cause for alarm.

CAUSES: 1 HORMONAL IMBALANCES. The sudden withdrawal of estrogen and progesterone triggers the blood and nutrients in the endometrium or lining of the womb to be released. This happens at the beginning of every menstrual cycle. This process can be set off at other times by too much or too little estrogen or progesterone as the release of blood in the uterine lining is dependent on hormonal instigators. Estrogen contains a blood clotting factor and this is why a menstrual flow will only start when the estrogen level drops. There are many causes for differing hormonal levels and every time estrogen or progesterone is given as a supplement, breakthrough bleeding may occur if the blending is incorrect. This type of bleeding often occurs when ladies take too much progesterone as it displaces estrogen that contains the clotting factor. Even “natural” progesterone creams are not exempt from causing this alarming condition and the bleeding is an indication that too much progesterone is active. Especially in cases where “natural” is masquerading as a synthesized progesterone supplement .

HOW TO REMEDY THE SITUATION: If the bleeding is heavy and lasts longer than a day, your gynecologist or doctor will have to determine the exact cause of the problem and estrogen (usually PREMARIN: from mares’ urine) is given in high doses every four hours to stop the bleeding. Futhermore, a D & C (womb scraping) and tissue or blood tests may be recommended. Although estrogen is used to clot the blood, the sudden surge of estrogen may cause the patient to gain weight, have swollen breasts and feel bloated because levels of the hormone prolactin may also be raised. This weight is difficult to remove and does not respond well to diet and exercise. An alternative approach may be to try and balance the hormonal levels in a gentler way, using estrogen active substances like: flax seeds, soya and a hormonal balancer such as agnus castus, which helps to lower levels of prolactin, thus helping to ease the resultant gain in weight. Unfortunately most natural techniques take a long time and often we need a “quick fix.”

MEGASLIM : WHAT IT DOES

Megaslim
Nature Fresh Megaslim

(NF 045) MEGASLIM

Megaslim pack size: 60 herbal veggicaps (1 month) Dosage: take first capsule before the breakfast as suggested in the natural diet plan. Take the second capsule before the lunch or afternoon snack as advised by the diet.

MEGASLIM FORMULATION

1x 700 mg capsule contains:

200 mg Coleus Forskohlii

200 mg Milk thistle

100 mg Cinnamon extract

100 mg Glycine

50 mg Nettle

15 mg elemental Zinc AAC

200 mcg GTF chrome 2%

50 mg Liquorice root

Included in the container: a natural diet plan.

MEGASLIM : WHAT IT DOES

MEGASLIM diet supplement addresses the hormonal causes of uncontrollable weight gain and obesity. It is for diet-resistant individuals who suffer from syndrome X, caused by insulin resistance, low thyroid conditions, excess cortisone or steroids and reproductive hormonal imbalances caused by birth control pills or PCOS (polycystic ovaries). MEGASLIM is a mega-fat blaster because it has thermogenic properties that work together with a magic ingredient called forskolin. However, it is not a nerve stimulant and does not cause insomnia, anxiety, depression or other adverse side effects. MEGASLIM nutrients help to improve insulin sensitivity, detoxify the liver and balance blood sugar. Oestrogen receptors in fatty tissue are deactivated with herbal compounds and the fat gets used as fuel instead. Digestion is improved with better absorption. The thyroid is stimulated to release more energy and the adrenals are given supportive treatment. Estrogen is expelled from the liver and prevented from interfering with fat cells. MEGASLIM is also a supplement that is helpful to relieve overweight sufferers of: asthma, high blood pressure, water retention, high cholesterol, platelet aggregation, psoriasis, diabetes, weakened immunity, stress and irritability, menstrual problems, menopausal difficulty and recurrent urinary tract infections.

FOOD RESTRICTION AND EXERCISE DON’T HELP SYNDROME X

When restricted food intake and dedicated exercise can no longer control the waistline then the micronutrients contained in MEGASLIM combined with diet help to correct the hormonal factors that are linked to weight gain:

1 Syndrome X as identified by: insulin resistance (leading to diabetes type 2), high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol / low HDL cholesterol and enlarging waistlines. (Females more than 63.5 cm and males over 100 cm).

2 Estrogenic overload as identified by: increased gain in fatty tissue around the hips, thighs and breasts.

3 Chrome deficiencies cause blood sugar imbalances and affect insulin function. Mood swings and depression, confusion, hypoglycaemia, constant sugar cravings, allergies and eventually type 2 diabetes are the result.

4 Impaired thyroid functions whereby the metabolism slows down: depression, constipation, dry skin, fatigue.

5 Toxic liver: poor digestion, malabsorption, lack of enzymes. (Estrogen and other hormones can’t be eliminated).

6 Cortisol overload: stress, starvation and low blood sugar cause extended periods of cortisol activity: too much for too long. Eventually the adrenals can no longer cope and both insulin and cortisol malfunction or become depleted.

7 Abuse of anabolic steroid hormones such as: birth control, HRT and body building products. These are all fattening!

8 Extreme zinc deficiencies: testosterone then converts (aromatizes) to estrogen; especially in men who take sexual enhancers or steroids. Oestrogen pumps fat into fat cells under the skin, where it causes them to enlarge. It also diminishes thyroid activity and insulin sensitivity.

THE MEGASLIM DIET PLAN IS INCLUDED

MEGASLIM works in conjunction with a natural eating plan that is included in the container. This revolutionary weight loss and vitality system makes a big difference to getting rapid, yet permanent results. Kilojoule restriction is not the only answer to weight loss. Many extensive studies now show that foods that control insulin reactions and eating to suit your blood type make a profound impact on achieving and maintaining a slim, healthy physique. The MEGASLIM diet plan links to the website: www.naturefresh.co.za where further support can be given free of charge to suit individual needs. Therapists who can assist with private consultations and are familiar with MEGASLIM are listed. All clients should first do a parasite cleanse with a liver and gallbladder detox prior to taking MEGASLIM. This process takes 3-4 days and helps to prepare you to make the new style of eating and the supplementation more effective.

The big clean out: getting rid of parasites. Cleansing the liver and gallbladder. Alleviating constipation.

Eating 3 balanced meals and snacks in between. Never go hungry: Learn how to raise your own levels of the hormone leptin to control appetite and produce a full and satisfied feeling without drugs and stimulants.

The unlimited zone: foods that can be freely eaten anytime. They suit all blood types and are high in nutrients, low in kilojoules. Can be used to fill up the plate as well as snacks and nibbles.

The compulsory zone: staple foods, especially the protein servings must be taken every few hours, with limited carbohydrates. These are low GI and blood type compatible.

The danger zone – general. The boring junk foods, once more and we all know them. But health foods that clash with blood types are included as they turn out to be grossly fattening and impair your fitness and general health.

Further supplementation you can include. As an individual, more supplements can be taken, especially if they can be used to replace medications. It is best to consult with a well-informed doctor when prescriptions are to be axed.

Exercise to suit. Yes, off the couch and when done properly, exercise makes you feel and look really good.

Most important: enjoy your new MEGASLIM body and lifestyle as you lap up the compliments!

THE INGREDIENTS IN MEGASLIM:

COLEUS FORSKOHLII (200mg per capsule)

Most important activity: weight loss and fat burning with prevention of subsequent fat storage. It also stimulates thyroid function and secretion of hormones to speed up metabolism. Helps release stored glycogen from the liver to balance low blood sugar. Aids sugar metabolism for treatment of syndrome X (diabetes 2,) PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and obesity. It contains forskolin that activates cyclic AMP to help treat: hypertension, mild congestive heart failure, asthma, psoriasis, digestive weakness, persistent urinary infections. It is anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine and soothing to the nervous system. It assists with low thyroid conditions. (Conditions often present in the obese.)

Coleus has many fat loss mechanisms: Forskolin in Coleus stimulates signaling agents within adipose tissue, leading to the breakdown of triglycerides and the subsequent release of fatty acids and glycerol into the bloodstream.

Additional Coleus supplementation can be taken with MEGASLIM: Use Nature Fresh Coleus tincture.(See notes)

MILK THISTLE contains SILYMARIN (200mg per capsule)

Liver congestion impairs the breakdown of excess hormones like oestrogen and the excretion of cancer forming components. After the recommended liver and gallbladder cleanse, the liver needs to function perfectly in order to manufacture critical micronutrients and excrete toxins. It also needs to release enzymes and bile for digestion. Silymarin in Milk thistle is excellent for liver restoration and it also has remarkable antioxidant properties.

CINNAMON (100mg per capsule)

A lot of research supports the insulin-like activity of common cinnamon to lower blood sugar when eating carbohydrates. Especially in the case of insulin resistance, cinnamon is now used to mobilise blood sugar.

Additional cinnamon from the spice rack can be added to each meal to help diabetics lower blood sugar naturally. They should note that ¼ teaspoon a time can challenge/replace medications in some cases of type 2 diabetes.

GLYCINE (50mg per capsule)

This amino acid helps to release stored glucose (glycogen) from the liver to normalise low blood sugar when needed, especially when it drops due to reactive insulin sensitivity. This alleviates the need for a quick sugar fix that is counterproductive in the long-term.

NETTLE (URTICA URENS)

The mild estrogenic effect of nettles helps to block off oestrogen receptors in fat, breast and prostate cells. It also aids in excreting harmful estrogenic metabolites via the liver.

ZINC Amino acid chelate. (15 mg of elemental zinc per capsule).

Adequate zinc prevents testosterone from converting (aromatizing) into Estrogen. When men take anabolic steroids, they often gain too much weight in the wrong places, due to increased oestrogen – especially the breasts and buttocks. Zinc is important for the forming of insulin and to improve taste sensations. Zinc deficiency impairs sweetness sensitivity. (People who add more sugar to tea and coffee can no longer tell how sweet it is.)

GTF CHROME (200 mcg of actives per capsule)

This is the safest and most reliable form of chrome to help balance blood sugar, reduce sugar cravings and improve muscle tone. It helps to reduce fatty tissue and build up muscle tissue and improve the body shape and tone.

LIQUORICE POWDER (GLYCORRIZIN)

Liquorice is very important to balance electrolytes in slimmers. They are encouraged to drink a lot of water and when done in excess, they feel weak and tired due to aldosterone (sodium balanced to potassium) deficiencies. Liquorice helps to improve cortisol function and raise blood sugar during the fight and flight reaction during stress. It regulates blood pressure in times of stress and fatigue or intensive exercise when sodium is needed to prevent dehydration. In amounts of less than a few grams a day, liquorice will. The blood pressure regulating effects of forskolin from the Coleus contained in MEGASLIM means liquorice cannot aggravate high blood pressure in this formulation.
