Q: Why do some people get colds and flu and others don’t?
A: Parasites, including their eggs and larval stages affect our health in many ways, causing infections, skin problems, weight loss, itching and so on. We all need to take a parasite remedy on a continuous basis to get rid of worms, flukes and other carriers of diseases as well as microbes. The fact is that if we are prone to colds and flu, we also have flukes or gut worms that carry viruses that cause these illnesses. Often all it takes to prevent colds and flu, as well as many mucous-related problems, is to wipe out these parasites. When dealing with a parasite problem, especially the larger worms and liver flukes, it is a good idea to treat the whole household, including our pets.
Q: Does this mean that we need to deworm everybody?
A: Most people give children an OTC worm remedy once a year and hope for the best. But worms breed every 3 weeks, laying thousands of eggs in contaminated soil, in pets and in us. We need to take a broad spectrum parasite remedy that also treats flukes, a smaller flatworm/parasite that inhabit the liver or pancreas and causes diseases such as bilharzia and diabetes. Parasites will remain inside the body until we treat them regularly – at least once a month.
Q: Do you know of herbs we can use?
A: Firstly, olive leaf. It kills the viruses responsible for colds and flu – plus taking it every day will eventually eliminate larger parasites such as worms and their subsequent egg cycles for good. Olive leaf tablets, for instance when chewed enter the bloodstream directly , making them one of the most effective and economical remedies.
Q: We also know that olive leaves have many other health benefits, so this gives us better value.
A: Yes, olive leaf is a remedy for hypotension. Some people have even been weaned off their medication with olive leaf tablets and noticed that a “side effect” is not getting colds and flu. Some doctors take them so as not to be infected with colds and flu by their patients! Olive leaf tablets also treat high blood sugar and cholesterol, they thin the blood and make it more viscous.

Q: Can we also make our own olive leaf remedies. What about drinking olive leaf tea?
A: Olive leaf tea does not provide all of the active chemicals. It only helps as a folk remedy for high blood pressure. Also, taking olive leaf extract is not as effective as consuming a 100% pure olive leaf. A tablet made from 100% olive leaf is the most effective remedy. You can make your own powdered leaves and mix them with honey. 7 olive leaves are equivalent to 1 of our tablets. Dried leaves can be finely milled in a coffee grinder. Sieve, mix with honey and take every morning if you can’t find any tablets. Chew it well.
Fresh olive leaves can be added to chunks of lemon and ginger and then juiced in a blender, but sieve it first. This fresh green juice is very effective, especially if you have the flu. Ginger also kills the virus, but it HAS TO BE FRESH GINGER.

Q: Is there anything else from the kitchen that we can use to get rid of worms or parasites?
A: Yes! Cloves kill worm eggs. So if you have given the worm remedy to the family, to prevent a subsequent infection, kill off the eggs with clove powder. Mix up a teaspoon of it with honey and take a bit every day. Try on a corner of buttered toast, as the taste is very strong. Or see if you can pack it into capsules.
As we mentioned, fresh ginger is No 1 for colds and flu and it is an excellent blood thinner, so if you already take medication, be careful. (You can use ginger or olive leaf instead, but discuss this with your doctor)
