Radio Talk 22nd February 2018 with Zulaikha and Sue
1 ) How to boost the immune system
With probiotics:
Probiotics are live bacteria that live in the gut and make up over 80% of the immune system. They survive by consuming yeast and other microbes.
An overgrowth of the benign yeast known as candida albicans usually indicates that there are not enough probiotics in the system. On the other hand, diets that starve out the candida yeasts tend to deprive the beneficial bacteria that feed off them and this affects your immunity. Probiotics neutralize toxins, remove heavy metals and create vitamins but they need candida as part of their food chain.
Probiotics work day and night to maintain immunity, to improve digestion, wipe out pathogens and keep us free of diseases. How often are we told to take probiotic supplements? Even then, there is a slim chance that the live bacterial strains will reach their destination safely. Ideally we need to eat more food that contains live bacterial strains and promotes probiotic activity on a constant basis

Buy or make olive leaf products
Olive leaves help to lower blood pressure naturally, stimulate microcirculation and boost the immune system, helping to improve white cell counts in HIV AIDS patients and lowering their viral and parasite loads. It is friendly to gut flora. Thrush, from yeast overgrowth is a side effect of taking too many patent antibiotics. Olive leaves eliminate the Giardia and Gardenerella parasites that are associated with Candida Albicans and the leaky-gut syndrome.

Make sauerkraut
Sauerkraut produces a unique bacterial strain called Lactobacillus plantarum. Take one or two tablespoons of sauerkraut a day and all it costs is a few cents for the following benefits:
1 Immune boosting: increases antibodies against pathogens including harmful strains of E. Coli and salmonella (food poisoning) and germs that cause colds and flu and other maladies.
2 It keeps the yeast families, especially the Candida albicans strains under control as well as the acid/alkali levels within the small and large intestines. It creates the perfect growth medium for probiotics to flourish.
4 As a digestive aid, sauerkraut converts lactose from milk into lactic acid. Lactic acid is essential to stop the growth of harmful bacteria, yeasts and moulds connected to: cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome and Candidiasis.
5 Sauerkraut breaks down phytic acid (in hard cellulose husks, etc) and also attacks trypsin-inhibitors so pancreatic trypsin can be activated to control cell division (cancer). It supports the health of the colon, cures tummy upsets, gas, bloating and prevents constipation. It helps to facilitate the break down of protein and the assimilation of amino acids. Valuable pancreatic enzymes are produced and the extra acidity helps compensate for low stomach acid intensity in elderly people.
5 Extra nutrients for free: it manufactures omega 3-fatty acids, GTF chrome that is essential to control blood sugar. Vitamin B6, B2, folate and a other B vitamins. Copious amounts of antioxidants: Vitamin C, glutathionine and superoxide dismutase to help control free radical damage, especially in terms of cancer prevention.

Take adaptogens: ginseng, shisandra, holy bail, ashwagandha, cordyceps and so on.
“Adaptogenic herbs increase your body’s resistance to physical, biological, emotional, and environmental stressors,”

Q ) How do we destroy the immune system in the gut with antibiotics?
Antibiotics and also excessive amounts of natural substances like echinachea, goldenseal, oregano oil and propolis kill the bacteria that function as the largest part (over 80%) of the immune system. Even copious amounts of garlic or cloves will kill off some of your probiotic population.
Q ) When is it wrong to boost the immune system?
If the immune system is attacking normal cells. Eg: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, psoriasis, Graves’ disease (overactive thyroid), Hashimoto’s disease (underactive thyroid) and vasculitis. Boosting immunity in these cases will cause more inflammation and cell damage.
Here it is more important to treat leaky gut and remove food that causes allergies or that may damage the gut – like gluten. Parasites like giardia that make the gut lining permeable have to be eliminated. Several studies have shown that increased intestinal permeability is associated with several autoimmune diseases, because food particles escape into the bloodstream and are attacked by the immune system. Some of them have a similar structure to tissues of the thyroid or adrenals, for instance.

2 ) Natural deodorants and cleaning agents
What is the best form of deodorant to use?
Avoid anti-perspirants. Don’t mask odours with perfume, rather wash with pH balanced liquid soap that does not upset normal skin bacteria. Creams that contain colloidal silver, iodine or natural essential oils are better to use. New products contain zinc ricinolate, a castor oil bean extract that is safe and absorbs odour.

What are the best ways to clean the house without using harsh chemicals?
Make or buy your own enzyme cleaners. They allow natural bacteria to break up dirt and odours.
Use white vinegar for mould, cleaning tiles and windows.
