OLIVE LEAF PRODUCTS: Questions & Answers
Happy result for customer with Olive leaf and Calmag combo for sore knees:
“About 12 to 18 months ago, I accidentally bought your Olive Leaf Extract with calcium & magnesium. I was in a hurry and just grabbed the first bottle of tablets off the shelf, and when I got home I saw it wasn’t the calcium & magnesium tablets with tissue salts, but the one with olive leaf. I decided to just take them, seeing that they have calcium & magnesium in them too.
Now for a number of years, I have had on and off pain and stiffness in my knees, in particular my right knee. It would either stiffen up, where it was painful to straighten or bend my leg, and sometimes while walking my knee would just give way. Luckily I have never fallen. After about two weeks of taking the olive leaf tablets, I noticed I hadn’t felt any knee pain or stiffness in the joint. I have continued taking the tablets, only one per day has been necessary, and my knees are working perfectly. I did stop taking them for about a week and the pain started to return, so I have continued with them, and will always do so, to keep arthritis away. I just thought I would tell you my story, and ask you to please never discontinue making them. Thanks a lot for a wonderful remedy with no side effects, and that’s affordable too!”
Our response:
WOW! What a wonderful story about how serendipity played a part in sorting out your bad knee. Often it is by “accident” that something profound is manifest. In this case, I assume the addition of olive leaf kills off microbes that attack our joints. These critters expel toxins that are extremely acidic and hence the need for calcium to keep on neutralizing it. As you know, we need the magnesium to prevent the calcification of soft tissue that would otherwise accumulate around the joint. Funny thing is that I never visualised this happening when I formulated the product. I merely added the calcium and magnesium to help lessen the Herxheimer (healing die-off reaction) effect of olive leaves, making it a milder supplement for infants, frail patients and even pets, as you can see from the attached video. These new tablets are good to chew as it somehow aids the direct absorption into the bloodstream. They don’t taste too awful, as my cat found out!
Olive leaf tablets for blood pressure and Rosacea? (Low stomach acid symptoms)
Q ) I have recently been diagnosed with Rosacea and my mother suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes.
I would just like to know how many tablets we would need to take (daily) in order to get the best results, as well as the approximate amount of time it would take to see any changes.
I currently take 4 tablets daily for my Rosacea and my mother takes 2 tablets daily with her other medication for the diabetes and high blood pressure.
A ) Thanks for your enquiry. When using olive leaves with a medication one has to be careful that the herb does not compete with the drug (do the same thing). So we like Doctors to keep monitoring the situation and to suggest a 1 month weaning schedule.
We do not claim these effects or recommend immediate withdrawal of medications. Please discuss these steps with a qualified practitioner:
1 Start increasing the olive tablets from 2 per day, to 2 2x per day over the 4 weeks.
2 At the same time start reducing the medication from a full dose to a half dose. Then a half dose every second day for the last 2 weeks. If the blood pressure is OK then the next month one can gradually reduce to further.
3 Normally most patients can maintain with 2 tablets 2x per day with zero meds and feel great!

Olive leaf and shingles
Q ) I’m looking for a high potency OLE (20% or more oleuropein potency). Can you advise what the oleuropein % is in your OLE? I have a friend who is suffering with shingles and needs a high dose treatment. Thanks and kind regards
A ) Our olive leaf tablets contain about 6 – 18% plus, plus – depending on the season, etc.
For shingles they should help with the Herpes virus. Most important is L-lysine to treat any Herpes virus. Best to combine 500mg capsule (Solal or Solgar) with 1000mg Vitamin C (any Brand)
For topical – skin, our HERPEASE lotion helps. Also BEE Balm is what my 93 yr old Mom said helped the very most! Lots of love – speedy recovery for your friend, it is hellishly painful.
Reply ) Thank you so much for your response, Sue. I am so happy to hear I can now buy your products on Takealot. I’m a big fan of your brand and shop regularly on Takealot. My friend will be so happy – I’ll get cracking ordering for her immediately. Thank you again!
The toxicity of olive leaves in rat trials?
A ) Firstly, rat studies are not human studies so this data is misleading.
Our olive leaf tablets are made from wild, organic olive leaves. They are not olive leaf extracts – these may be toxic of consumed in such large quantities as are given to rats to establish LD 50 (lethal dose ratings). You will be interested to know that gingko Biloba has an LD50 rating 6 x higher than olive leaf. Yet it is not considered to be toxic at recommended doses.
We have consumed olive leaves for nearly 20 years. They are lethal to HIV/AIDs, Malaria, colds and flu, Candidiasis and tapeworms. They also lower blood pressure, cholesterol and can be used for diabetics. Regards, Sue
Response: ) Yes, it’s helping my blood pressure as well. I was just worried about the liver and kidneys, as my wife is using your olive leaf, and she has one failing kidney. Thank you so much for your feedback. It really makes me feel better. I really appreciate it. May God bless you
Does olive leaf cause constipation?
Q) I have been told that olive leaf causes constipation. Is this true? What is the antidote?
A) This is a very recent phenomenon. There is no logical reason that taking olive leaf should cause constipation. Usually, during the process of detoxification (Herxheimer reaction) the opposite happens and the bowel loosens and becomes more like diarrhoea.
The main causes of constipation are dehydration and a lack of vitamin C, believe it or not. People can increase vitamin C 500mg tablets of ascorbic acid to the point that the bowel loosens up. The RDA according to orthomolecular reasoning is 2 – 3 grams per day. People on diuretics or heart medications get constipated, being over supplied with substances that dehydrate them. Caffeine and alcohol have a similar effect. A lack of fibre can also be the cause, especially during the holidays!
Natural or dietary alternatives to WARFARIN for blood clotting?
Q ) I am looking for a more natural or alternative medication for Wafarin which I am currently on. I cumulatively take 42.5mg of wafarin per week (5mg 4 days of the week and 7.5mg on the other 3 days), I have had stable INR value between 2.4 and 2.6 over the past 3 months, and my therapeutic INR range is between 2.0 and 3.0
A ) Some of our NATURE FRESH customers use Olive Leaf tablets or tincture 2 tablets 2x day to keep their blood “thin and slippery” they say and also to control blood pressure. Drugs like Warfarin and Heparin are normally given but they do have side effects. Vitamin K supports natural clotting in case of injury but people on Warfarin are told not to eat foods that contain Vitamin K, like spinach. These drugs can indirectly cause fatal haemorrhages, cancer, amnesia, etc. Taking aspirin is also dangerous in the long term because it irritates the gastric lining. Many drugs cause blood to thicken or clot: Cortisone, Oestrogen (Pill and HRT)
But first ask for medical approval for herbal blood thinners. (These are the ones you are told to stop taking.) Vitamin B6: 50mg 2 x per day, Garlic, ginger and Omega 3 fish oils and natural Vitamin E. Clotting factors (viscosity) should be regularly monitored with your physician during the drug weaning period. A doctor of integrated medicine will be able to help you with an alternative diet and supplements to control blood pressure and clotting factors, should you wish to stop depending on prescription drugs for some conditions.
A drug – weaning protocol to discuss with your prescribing practitioner
Golden Rules: Never just stop your meds abruptly. Never take a full dose combined with the alternatives.
I usually work with doctors skilled in integrated medicine and refer patients to them for a weaning schedule. Basic guidelines: never just suddenly stop using a medication. Work down the dosage and the intervals in descending steps over 2 – 4 weeks. Then after a few days you can start taking the natural remedy and supplements in ascending steps over 2 – 4 weeks. During this time you need to keep monitoring the blood clotting and the blood pressure, etc.
Complaints and queries about: Parabens are earth-friendly chemicals and are there to protect you!
Parabens in Aloe skin therapy gel. Are you also afraid of Parabens?
“I am very disappointed and will discontinue using this product”
Q) It is so difficult to know what to trust when I have read so many other articles that state that parabens are harmful – I read on your page that they occur as a natural compound in plant materials but the parabens you use, are these the naturally occurring ones or artificial chemicals, and how does this differ or affect the body?
A) Thank you for your comments. We are happy that you like using our products. The big paraben lie people tell is indeed a serious and dangerous issue. Parabens kill mould and mycotoxins better than any other antimicrobial agent we have on this planet. So do synthetic parabens that are identical in structure. We do not extract natural parabens from things like mangoes, please understand that this is neither sustainable or feasible. This is why sterile, synthetically derived parabens are extensively used in the pharmaceutical industry and do not cause cancer. They kill the mould and mycotoxin infections that are associated with over 99% of breast cancers. We are familiar with synthetic vitamin C and Salicylic acid, for instance.
Some of our products contain a lot of fresh herbal extracts and components that if left untreated, develop mould, smell bad, look terrible and can cause infections. The “organic” alternatives or the chemicals that people don’t get hysterical about have either not been effective enough or have been too harsh.
All it takes is for one poorly informed and self-opinionated prominent person to spread a lie. Then other well respected people who also don’t do their homework repeat that lie. So learn the truth about parabens:
Q ) Hi there. I bought the deodorant body wash. U say u don’t use chemicals. Why on the bottle does it say propyl paraben and methyl paraben aren’t these chemicals?
A ) Here is more information about parabens. They are chemicals, but not nasty ones as people are led to believe. We try to exclude them wherever possible, but only if the pH is suitable. Acidic products can be safely preserved with food grade potassium sorbate or benzoic acid.
Q 2 ) Interesting article. I am just wondering is there a chemical paraben that is made not from plants that I the concern or may be spelt differently to confuse us. Anyway thank you for the reply.
A 2 ) Once again, manmade or naturally occurring – the atomic structure is the same. We get aspirins by making salisylic acid in the lab, instead of stripping the bark off willow trees. Linus Pauling won Nobel prizes with his work on ascorbic acid made in a laboratory. (He would have needed a few tons of oranges to do that!) The new Intimate cleansers can also be used like a body wash and we have added probiotics to the Rooibos variant. We are going to use a similar formulation for the Body washes .
Q : What quantity of oleacin is present in your olive leaf tablets?
A: We do not list all the chemical components of olive leaves because they work in synergy and there are dozens of them. For instance, the popular extract called oleacin is not really effective by itself as compared to what we now call a whole leaf extract as opposed to products that only focus on oleacin and oleuropein.
For instance, it is only whole leaf extract of olive leaf or of Artemisia Annua/Afra that is still able to cure things like drug resistant malaria. Jim is living proof that they do!
I have provided links to our website as well as my articles in the SA Medical Academic CPD portal
Olive leaves contain a natural anti-malarial component called chlorquinone. Olive leaf also inhibits blood clotting and maintains optimal viscosity. It has a natural built-in benefit as an alternative to blood-thinning medications. This can help to protect high-risk patients against the formation of tiny clots that occur as a complication of the coronovirus infections. Olive leaf has been used successfully for diabetic and cardiovascular patients as an alternative to medications that lower blood pressure, thin the blood and lower blood sugar. Although it was first believed that ACE inhibitors may be harmful to coronavirus patients the verdict is that these drugs are of more benefit to help the heart and lungs of an infected patient.
Extracts from olive leaves have been shown to treat infections caused by a large number of viruses as well as bacteria, parasitic protozoas, and fungi. A phytochemical in olive leaf, called Oleuropein, is able to stop viruses in their tracks. It neutralizes the enzymes that are important for the virus to replicate itself and spread. Oleuropein also has the ability to interfere with the critical amino acid production that is essential for viruses. Another component from the whole leaf is elenolic acid that inactivates viruses and bacteria without damaging the host cells by:
Interference with specific amino acid production processes vital to the life cycle of the virus
Interference with viral infection and/or spread by inactivating the virus or by prohibiting shedding, budding or assembly at the cell membrane
Immune activation of host defence through direct stimulation of phagocytosis
Neutralisation of the production of reverse transcriptase and protease (relates to retroviral ability to alter the host cell RNA)
Penetration of infected host cells while achieving an irreversible inhibition of viral replication.
The antiviral activity of elenolic acid was shown to be greatest in an alkaline environment (pH 7.5), which is very close to the normal human pH range of 7.35-7.45
