Q and A with Sue December 2017
Diabetic seeks natural treatments and supplements
Q ) I am a type 2 diabetic patient on medication and on diet. I have decided to move to organic and green natural products to manage my disease. I seek your expert advice on these products as well as if you have any of the relevant products.
A ) You can order my book from Takealot.com see link:
https://naturefresh.co.za/products/nf-041-book-by-sue-visser-160-pages-in-full-colour/
https://naturefresh.co.za/radio-786/
https://naturefresh.co.za/products/nf-024-pain-supplement-msm-vitamin-c-90g-powder/ this product helps to lower blood sugar if a teaspoon of the powder is taken with a little water before a meal. (Take less medication if it gets too low! )
https://naturefresh.co.za/products/nf-010-calcium-complex-300g-powder/ take it at bedtime because magnesium helps insulin sensitivity.

about magnesium, from my research articles at Infobarrel Regards, Sue Visser (aka Yindee)
I normally buy TRIBULUS TERRESTRIS: 50ml tincture but I accidentally bought AGNUS CASTUS:
Q ) I normally buy TRIBULUS TERRESTRIS: 50ml tincture but I accidentally bought AGNUS CASTUS: 50ml tinc instead. So I was just wondering, is there any benefit to me using it as a male? I’m just concerned it would affect my sexual performance if I do use it. As it seems it has that affect from what I’ve read.
A ) Traditionally they gave ground up Agnus Castus berries to monks to make them behave, so it was called monk’s pepper and hence chasteberry. Give it to a lady suffering from insulin resistance, usually called PCOS, see notes attached, to modify her aggressive behaviour, weight gain, facial beard and balding scalp!
Otherwise try to exchange it for tribulus: grrrrrrr –
Calcium and constipation or stomach acid problems?
Q ) Calcium & Magnesium complex powder. I refer to abovementioned. Calcium complex
I drink 1 teaspoon/5ml in 50 ml water at night and 5ml mixed Into plain yoghurt in the morning. Is there any alternative?
Can I mix into fruit juice i.e orange, or will absorbtion not be the same? I struggle with constipation and acid reflux and heard That mixing with orange juice can actually help with constipation. Don’t Know if that is true. Are the tablets just as good as the powder as my daughter will not take Powder?
A ) You can mix the powder with orange juice, milk, water or anything else, like yoghurt and it absorbs and is taken up by the stomach. If stomach acid is not suitably acidic (pH 2) then you will suffer from acid reflux. It is best to read the articles I have attached as this is a separate problem that needs to be addresses. Constipation is yet another condition that requires further understanding. In all cases, we still need calcium! The tablet form is more expensive and people with a stomach acid problem do not absorb calcium as easily from the tablets. You can obtain more information about these issues by using the SEARCH box on our website: www.naturefresh.co.za
Eg Calcium: https://naturefresh.co.za/google-cse/?q=calcium
Q ) I have purchased the abovementioned item, and I really feel the difference in my health. So thanks for the great product.
I’d just like to know one thing – would the supplement retain its nutritional value if I mixed a 5-dose batch of 250ml every few days, instead of mixing it with each use?
A ) We are glad you like the Nature Fresh Calcium Complex powder. If you want to mix a larger batch, the water soluble vitamins ( C and B6) lose their potency after 3 hours of air exposure. The minerals will still be active – guaranteed for a million years, so up to you. Personally, I find it easy enough to pop a teaspoon into a small tot of water and mix it before drinking at bedtime. A bulk mixture would still need to be stirred and shaken before taken.
https://naturefresh.co.za/do-we-need-calcium/ this article will provide more info.
Customer: Thank you for your response and the informative article. I’m actually going to show it to my friend who uses the “birth control” pill, as it seems like it would be relevant to her.
Sometimes a pre-mixed calcium is useful for long stretches on the road, but I will definitely bear in mind the effects on the water-soluble vitamins when taking the supplement at home.
Intimate cleanser for babies?
Q ) I use either the intimate wash or the sensitive body wash to wash my baby (1 year) but have been using it pretty much since birth – maybe 3 months old. He often sucks on the pump bottle I have it in – and drinks the bath water! Just want to check if there’s anything in it that I should be concerned about? I like the fact that it has probiotics. He has some eczema. I’ve been using it for years as I had thrush, (not any more – but still use it) – and my husband too. Standing joke in our house “where’s the fanny wash!?” Ha-ha Also, if it goes on the garden? Veggie garden, and indigenous garden, is it OK?
A ) Yes, more than a funny fanny wash! My husband only washes his new car with same and most children ingest copious amounts either accidentally or on purpose. Our cats also come and drink our bath water. We use it in the bath and add Epsom salts and this nutritious blend is used as grey water for the garden and pot plants to make them (not us) greener!
You can supplement the intake of probiotics with our Probiotic-15. Add it to water, juice, yoghurt and also use it topically as part of eczema or candidiasis treatment. Use the search facility on our wonderful website to locate all the guidelines for DIY health protocols try: PROBIOTICS – https://naturefresh.co.za/google-cse/?q=probiotics
Enjoy it at both ends, for pets, plants and a healthy planet. Love, Sue
Herbal Toothpaste- citric acid?
Q ) I have been looking at toothpaste and has found that there aren’t many available that are really “natural”. Most of it contains ingredients that are not necessarily good for teeth (e.g. Colgate Herbal, Miswak).
The Naturefresh Herbal Toohtpaste seems to be the exception except for one ingredient: the citric acid. Why do you guys use it in the toothpaste? Any acid isn’t good for teeth. I don’t know how much of it is present in your toothpaste as you don’t specify it.
A ) I formulated the toothpaste and added enough citric acid to prevent the product from being too alkaline. In the mouth, the saliva has a pH that is slightly acidic. So it makes sense not to use anything too alkaline, say Bicarb or just calcium as upsets the balance and for a while the teeth become more vulnerable to decay. The main cause being dry mouth, something many of the “natural” products have not yet overcome. The citric acid is only used as a pH balancer. They warn about lemon juice and citric acid as is – a pH of 2. Vitamin C as well, will strip off tooth enamel and people are warned not to sip lemon juice or suck vitamin C lozenges. But for 20 years, people have been using our toothpaste, even applying it to open lesions ulcers, gingivitis or after tooth extraction to good effect. We exclude fluoride because nobody really has a fluoride deficiency and fluoride attacks mouth and gum tissue, destroys the cells and also contributes to bad odour!
The same applies to intimate and body cleansers that are too alkaline. They attract odours and promote the growth of pathogenic microbes.
Regards, Sue
Response: Great reply. Thank you very much. Will use it and recommend it.
Aloe and Propolis toothpaste for sensitive teeth causes sensitivity?
Q ) I purchased your Aloe gum therapy toothpaste recently to try out something different from your range (not because I have sensitive gums or teeth necessarily). I have been using the NF 001 HERBAL TOOTHPASTE for a couple of weeks now after switching to it from Miswak as I wanted to decrease my exposure to SLS. I was hoping that the xylitol free Propolis gum therapy toothpaste would have a more distinct herbal flavour.
I did not get more flavour, but did develop sensitive teeth after brushing? I have not shown any sensitivity to the ingredients listed on the label before, any idea why this particular ingredient mix would cause aching teeth for at least 4-5 hours after brushing when it is actually meant to be used for sensitive teeth and gums?
A ) Thanks for your feedback – the first ever mention of it causing sensitivity in anybody. It is hard to speculate as people with exposed enamel, gingivitis, post op lesions and mouth ulcers rave about it. They especially like the mildness and we underplay the minty whoosh, so animals can also benefit from the therapeutic effects. I have no idea why you experienced such sensitivity – maybe the propolis, if you have a bee allergy. (Some people react to Bee Balm and the homeopathic remedy Apis.)
Our herbal mouthwash is what we humans use to freshen up – after and between brushing teeth. We decant it into a small spray bottle and it is handy for travel. Funny thing is, our cat smells the mint and wants to lick it up! But it contains xylitol, so we have to curb her mint addiction, ha-ha. https://naturefresh.co.za/products/nf-040-breath-buster-anti-microbial-mouthwash-200ml/
Enjoy our products – they are tested on humans, although animals also love them. Regards, Sue Visser
Response: Thank you for getting back to me Sue. I am not aware of a bee allergy, but I also do not plan to stand in the way of a bee to test the theory. I think your cat is probably after the minty flavour which is similar to fresh catnip 🙂 I will just refrain from using this specific toothpaste for time being.
Subject: Probiotics – Saliva testing for blood type secretor status in South Africa?
Q ) I came across your website when I was looking for blood group related probiotics. I notice that in the USA, Dr. D’ Adamo has probiotics that are tailor made for a person’s blood group. I am blood group A negative. Unfortuanately, I am in Zimbabwe and so far the lab I have contacted to not carry out tests to see whether I am a secretor or a non-secretor. Would you advise on probiotics and supplements that would suit both of the A blood groups so that when I come to SA I can order them and get them? I do not have an illness and I am not on any medication.
Looking forward to hearing from you and super excited about learning all this information on blood group related diets. Thanks for the great work you are doing!
A ) We make only 1 type of probiotics and include 15 strains. None are bad for any blood type, so there is no danger in adding the culture to food, juice or water and allowing your gut garden to grow according to what is required within. The main problem with people is that they overload on lactobacillus and this creates the worst imbalance.
https://naturefresh.co.za/products/nf-047-probiotic-15-liquid-200ml-amber-bottle/
I wrote a book on blood type eating and agree that it is hard to determine secretor status due to the unavailability of blood tests. We use food tolerance testing – better than nothing! I supply the lists free on our website. With A, it depends mainly on your tolerance to wheat. Most A secretors are OK with bread, I have noticed. See a previous letter, similar to yours below. Regards, Sue
A ) Hi, South Africa does not provide the secretor salivary test per se. But they can tell you from a saliva sample if there are antigens present (secretor) or not present (non-secretor)
You can ask:

Or these people may be able to help:

I provide the food lists that can also help to determine typical food tolerance patterns between the 4 + 4 types

Response: Thank you for your reply, the information and especially your list is so helpful. I do appreciate you responding.
A2 0 My pleasure. You can order my book, it is especially written for SA blood type fans:

Nature Fresh PROBIOTIC-15. Liquid and Spray
Q ) I have been using your Probiotic for a short while now and am happy with it – thank you !!
You mention on the label that the product contains 15 herbs.
Would it be possible to let me have a list of these herbs as I like to know exactly what I am taking at all times.
A ) You get what you see listed on the label – 15 species of gut flora. They are not herbs as the attached article will explain. Here it is pasted out, if that makes it easier! Regards, Sue
Online information about the two products:
https://naturefresh.co.za/products/nf-048-probiotic-15-spray-200ml-amber-spray-bottle/
PROBIOTIC-15 is a liquid concentrate of the three basic families of probiotic strains: lactobacillus, phototropic probiotics (similar to blue-green algae) and beneficial yeasts that do not cause candidiasis. These beneficial microbes consume the trouble making candida! When we take antibiotics and even large and frequent doses of herbs like goldenseal, oregano oil, echinachea or propolis we kill off the beneficial gut microbes as well. In other words, we compromise over 80% of the immune system and that is why we suffer from candida and constipation!
It is not about the amount of each microbe you need but more the variety of strains. Microbes grow by themselves so the latest trend is to provide a larger selection that will then take care of establishing a healthy population of beneficial bacteria. This creates a synergistic effect: more from less because they interact with each other to enhance our health in diverse ways. All we need is a liquid “seeding” concentration of the 15 species and they will grow on food, molasses, yoghurt or even a glass of water at room temperature. The TMA (total microbial action) of PROBIOTIC-15 liquid concentrate doubled within a few days when a teaspoon of it was left in a glass of water at room temperature. It just keeps on growing!
The daily dose is 5 – 15 ml. This also provides 200mcg of selenium. In South Africa we are deficient in selenium – the antioxidant mineral that helps to prevent cancer and HIV / AIDS.
PROBIOTIC-15 can also be diluted and used on the skin, as a hair rinse, a vaginal douche or as an enema. Use it to soak and sanitize your fruit and vegetables and then tip the water onto your pot plants! The second product is a spray-on version of the concentrate plus it contains 10% colloidal silver. According to research it does not affect the beneficial microbes and it provides a boost of its own. It is great for first aid, to sanitize chopping boards, toilet seats etc. It can be sprayed directly onto a plate of food, especially if you do not trust the salad! Food stays fresher and free of nasty gut bugs. So now you know what to do with your probiotics every day.
1 PROBIOTIC-15 concentrated liquid with selenium.
A plant-derived combination of ingeniously versatile probiotic strains provided by EM (effective microbe) technology has inspired two new products. 25 years of research and development in Japan created this new EM technology and it has now been introduced to South Africa. Our formulation includes colloidal silver. The Spray version has an additional 10% colloidal sliver. It is quick and convenient to use directly onto affected areas such as sore throats, Candida, etc. It can be used on foods such as lettuce.

Probiotics from Fermented foods plus a recipe for KIMCHI – by Sue Visser
Sue Visser is the health researcher and product developer for Nature Fresh Health Products. She has been investigating ingenious ways to boost your probiotic intake and hence your natural immunity at little or no cost. Vegans who do not eat dairy-based products and people on low incomes tend to lose out on probiotics. On the radio and in her magazine articles Sue loves the DIY approach
Sue teaches people how to make a month’s worth of probiotics for as little as eight rand – the cost of a single cabbage! For the DIY vegan or health enthusiast it provides a rush of lactobacillus plantarum. The cabbage and salt base converts to lactic acid when it is stored in an air tight container for two weeks. The resultant mixture can be juiced and strained if you hate eating sauerkraut! She will show us how to make a variety of tasty foods like Kimchi or lemon pickle that are rich in all sorts of probiotics and of course, lactic acid.
• Lactic acid has nothing to do with milk. It is a strong sterilizing compound. It suppresses harmful micro-organisms and breaks down and ferments the fibre we eat such as lignin and cellulose. It also produces antibacterial compounds that are known as bacteriocins that attack pathogenic bacteria, yeasts and moulds.
• Probiotics neutralize toxins, remove heavy metals and create vitamins in the gut.
• They help to speed up the elimination of toxic waste in the bowel and naturally bulk up the stool and balance the water content as do laxatives and fibre supplements.
• They also keep cholesterol and triglyceride levels in check.
• Probiotics break down excessive hormone levels to control oestrogen dominance.
Easy Kimchi that takes 1 week to make
Suitable vegetables: at least half must be cabbage (or Chinese cabbage and a little bit of kale). Then chop up a mixture of finely cut carrot, leeks, and onions, red, yellow or green pepper. For extra flavour, add grated ginger and finely chopped celery. (Rather not chilli for the little ones and don’t include garlic like the traditional recipe – or rotten fish?).
You need more veg, about half as much extra because it shrinks in volume. Chop up 750ml to fit inside a 500ml jar.
Use a tray to spread it out. Shake on a little salt – about ½ teaspoon and let the mixture soften and shrink for a few hours.
I then add ½ teaspoon of the miso paste for extra flavour and mix it with my hands and stuff the veg into a jar so that it is pressed down tightly to exclude air.
There must be no air space at the top and the veg must be covered with juice. If you have too much space left at the top of the jar fill it with crumpled up cabbage leaves. Press them down so that the kimchi mixture is covered in liquid. Screw the lid down firmly to make it air tight and ferment for at least 1 week. Enjoy kimchi as a pickle, on toast, crackers with cheese or even in a soup.
To make kimchi paste, use a stick blender to process it. I take half my jar – and add chopped chillies to my personal taste, plus olive oil. Enjoy it with any dull dish, even soup or salads for a bit of zing!

For me it seems to be the best probiotic that I have taken. Always like to know what I am putting in my body !!! With my best wishes and kind regards
Progesterone, PCOS, pregnancy, spotting, sweet potato, chasteberry
Q ) Do you know if it’s safe to take Chaste Berry and Sweet Potato drops if you are pregnant
A ) If you are pregnant – keep it up, but do not exceed the suggested dosage. Then start to skip every second dose of the sweet potato. Read the attached files – you never know!
Q2 ) I have been taking agnus castus but I started with sweet potato about 3 weeks ago so not sure if I should continue?
This was because with my pcos I was getting hot flushes
A2 ) If you have been using the products to get pregnant, then keep on taking them. If you stop suddenly, some ladies have told me the pregnancy failed. Why? Because the body needs the progesterone. I can’t give professional advice, but according to our combined experience over the years, people keep it up. All the best for a happy outcome! God bless, Sue xxxx
Q3 ) I am pregnant and I have been getting a brownish, peachy sometimes black spotting that started when I was about 5 weeks. When I asked my gynae about it, she sent me to check my progesterone levels and they were fine.
But I continued taking the drops, both chaste berry and sweet potato, I just reduced the dosage of the chaste berry to twice a day and the sweet potato to once a day. I have been taking it like that ever since and the spotting stopped for few days and started again. It stopped for almost 2 weeks and started again, lasted 3 days. I haven’t had it since but I see on Saturday I had a more than normal peachy discharge and today its brownish. When it started I reduced the chaste berry drops to once a day and still continued with the sweet potato.
Not sure what to do because when I spoke to my gynae again at 6 weeks, he said it could be implantation bleeding. But that’s late for implantation bleeding and its still continuing up until now.
Has anyone else experienced this before? Could it be that I may have excess progesterone? Because I heard that the placenta produces progesterone and I remember the gynae telling me I can stop taking it when I’m passed the first trimester. Although I won’t stop because you said many pregnancies failed due to this.
Hope to hear from you soon – the medical doctors cannot help when it comes to things like this.
A3 ) How far are you – past the first 3 months is good, after this critical stage, if you still are holding, that is OK. Spotting is less of a worry and is often a sign that progesterone is active. When I experimented with progesterone cream, I noticed a similar discharge. But I never had it when I used sweet potato because it only has the precursor – not the hormone. This method teaches one to make the hormone the natural way, as and when needed! Your spotting seems to be a good omen, as far as I can see. I would just reduce the Chasteberry by 50%.
Here is a good reference, just watch out for any alarming pain or a warning signal. Love, Sue
(I am not qualified to give medical advice, as you know but do my best to help you decide what to do. You alone will be able to judge what your body needs. )
http://natural-fertility-info.com/mid-cycle-spotting.html
“The Body is Adjusting to an Increase in Progesterone Levels
Introducing progesterone may exacerbate estrogen dominant symptoms, such as spotting for a short time, as the body adjusts. When first introducing progesterone back into the body after an extended period of progesterone deficiency, the estrogen receptor sites ‘wake up’ (are stimulated), enhancing the action of estrogen for a short period of time. In this case, the spotting is a sign that the body is responding well to the progesterone, even though at the beginning it can exacerbate estrogen dominance symptoms. Your body should regulate over the following cycle. This is very common in women with PCOS, endometriosis, uterine fibroids and especially low progesterone levels. For a complete guide to progesterone cream use, click here…”

How to skip a menstrual cycle, relieve hot flushes or conceive using just a sweet potato
Q) Hi, you often mention the sweet potato method on the radio. Last time somebody asked you about delaying the menstrual cycle and you advised using the sweet potato tincture? My daughter’s last cycle started on 10 December 2017…her next cycle is due on 7 January 2018.
We leave for pilgrimage on 4 January. She would like to delay this cycle by about two weeks.
My questions are…
1) Can she consume raw sweet potato instead of the tincture (she is not keen on the tincture because of the alcohol content)
2) How soon should she begin consuming to delay her next cycle?
3) How much should she have? How often? Many thanks
A) Hi, there is no guarantee that you can skip/delay a cycle at such short notice, so start chewing your sweet potato (Ipomea Batatis – red skinned sweet potato) immediately. (I usually recommend 2 months ahead of time to practice and make absolutely sure.) I am not a doctor and take no responsibility for how or why you wish to delay or skip menstrual cycles. But I am happy to share my technique with you.
As I advised you in the notes I sent you, cut off and peel a piece about the size of a golf ball every day (or even twice a day in this case). Stop when you return home, and the next cycle should be normal. It was for me, when I did the trials for 6 months on the sweet potato – plus it also worked with another 6 month trial using 20+ drops of the tincture.
It is not about eating the sweet potato normally, as a food. Rather bite off tiny pieces and chew them around the mouth and under the tongue so that the juice can be taken up directly into the bloodstream. Take at least 15 minutes, so just nibble off little pieces. (I used to do this when driving to work!) It depends on the ovulation cycle, but with a bit of luck you may be able to suppress the follicle stimulating hormone by releasing enough progesterone. The sweet potato does not contain any progesterone per se. It only provides a precursor molecule, being almost similar in chemical structure, but with an extra HO attachment. Somehow, I discovered that the sweet potato converts to progesterone with my method.
Since 1998 my chewing sweet potato technique has been used by many ladies to skip a cycle temporarily and resume normal menstruation. It is dose dependent – ladies who need to conceive by gently raising progesterone have done so successfully by chewing a piece the size of a finger. The oldest ‘patat’ (sweet potato) baby is 18 years old and was accidentally conceived by her 38-year old mother who was chewing the sweet potato to relieve heavy menstrual bleeding! She was helping me make my products at the laboratory and was as curious as I was.
Today our sweet potato is just one of a number of hormone balancing tinctures that have helped to relieve menopausal symptoms, polycystic ovarian syndrome and infertility. We have single remedies: Black cohosh, Red Clover, Chaste Berry and my original Sweet Potato – unique to Nature Fresh. I offer the tincture as a convenient alternative, but by all means, take sweet potatoes with you when you travel. But not to countries that forbid fresh produce. I have found the fresh red skinned sweet potato to be available in most of the countries I have visited around the world.
This is why so many ladies have been able to help themselves overcome hormonal imbalances – by restoring their own hormonal levels without replacing them. Not everybody wants to take hormones for the rest of their lives. Not me – now I’m over the menopause and not in need of replacing anything! I chew a piece of sweet potato whenever I prepare them for supper- not often and this is all I seem to need.
Sweet potato chewing is truly a gift from nature. It costs so little and does so much and I share this method freely around the world! Somebody posted this story on the internet:
