Common skin problems and products to help them

Common skin problems and products to help them – 2020 update by Sue Visser

Acne due to hormonal upsets (testosterone/oestrogen imbalance) as an adult

To balance the hormones, a Chasteberry tincture treats the cause. Follow up with the PCOS protocol to complete the process and cure menstrual disorders and mood swings that accompany the acne and in some cases, facial hair. Any of the skin products listed below can also be helpful. For washing use Body wash or Intimate cleansers that do not cause or aggravate acne.

NF 031 HORMONE BALANCING SUPPLEMENTS: AGNUS CASTUS: 50ml tincture

Acne, obesity, menstrual difficulty . POS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) PMS (premenstrual stress) .For aggressive sexually overbearing behaviour in males. For females it boosts the libido and helps females to release more testosterone, required after the menopause.

Acne due to ingredients in the cosmetics you are using

Google for lists showing the comedogenic values of certain ingredients and check if any products you use contain ones that are higher than 2 out of 5. Worst offenders (4 -5) are: lanolin, cocoa butter, coconut butter, Isopropyl myristate and similar chemicals (isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl isothermal, putty stearate, isostearyl neopentonate, myristyl myristate, decyl oleate, octyl sterate, octyl palmitate and isocetyl stearate and PPG myristyl propionate) ,lauric acid, laureth 4, laureth 23 and oleth 3, ceteareth 20 and red pigments (blushers) based on coal tar extracts. An acceptable substitute for red color is carmine. Ingredients in Retin-A® Cream, Hytone®, Desquam X® and Xerac® are known to be comedogenic. Although jojoba oil has a low rating, it resembles the effect of testosterone on skin pores – similar to male acne during puberty.

The best acne medications utilize benzoyl peroxide in a pure water based gel lotion such as Vivant’s BP 5% for mild acne and 10% for more severe acne of the face, back and chest. Accutane – damages the body severely, jeopardizing your health FOR LIFE, and has a low success rate for curing acne compared to natural acne treatments. It boggles the mind that paid professional doctors prescribe this dangerous drug to their patients.

The best way to protect your skin from acne is by avoiding the offending cosmetics completely. As a rule, the simpler the cosmetic, the better it is for you. Organic or natural may still mean comedogenic.

Fever blisters – Herpes Simplex

Fever blisters around the mouth or genitals develop and reproduce in the absence of the amino acid Lysine. Topical application of a cream containing Lysine helps to inhibit the growth of the herpes virus. HERPEASE contains natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral agents from Tea tree oil, myrrh and copper extracts. Rooibos, aloe, urtica, calendula and rosemary help to soothe and disinfect the area. Essential fatty acids help encourage the growth of healthy new tissue. Fungal infections such as candida albicans may also respond well to this treatment.

INGREDIENTS:Aloe Ferox, rooibos, urtica, calendula, Tea tree oil, myrrh, rosemary, copper extracts, vegetable oils containing Omega 3 & Omega 6 in a cellulose gel base. Natural colour from herbs & copper.

DIRECTIONS: Apply every few hours to an infected area. If possible, apply prior to an attack, if you have a cold or before you are exposed to sun and wind, when you are most vulnerable. As soon as you feel a burning or tingling, apply HERPEASE frequently to the whole area around the mouth, lips or genitals that may become affected.

(NF 022) HERPEASE: 20ml squeeze bottle

Eczema, ringworm, psoriasis, scar prevention, rough heels, fingernails and elbows, nappy rash

BEE BALM was initially developed to treat and cure Jim’s psoriasis and that was just the beginning! Using propolis, beeswax, honey and papaya enzymes, Sue formulated a magic potion that has successfully helped people clear up psoriasis, eczema, ringworm, discoid eczema, cracked and split heels, lips and fingertips and even fungal infections of the nailbed and persistent cases of athletes’ foot. She uses BEE BALM every night to keep finger cuticles at bay and has thrown away her cuticle remover. People even claim that it attacks crow’s feet wrinkles around the eyes, so they use it as a night cream. Perhaps the lavender helps them to have a good night! BEE BALM can be used on all cuts and surgical wounds, to help prevent and diminish scar tissue. Propolis, Rooibos and Aloe Ferox help to disinfect and the beeswax forms a thick, airtight covering. The papaya enzymes help to remove excess dry skin and scar tissue.

FOR BEST RESULTS: Apply BEE BALM frequently to the affected areas, especially overnight and after a bath.

(NF 019) BEE BALM : 80ml plastic jar

Infected, weepy sores, cuts, bruising and injuries

Anti-microbial herbs: olive leaf, blackseed, rosemary, aloe ferox (100%), tea tree oli & black walnut to deal with most skin conditions: athlete’s foot, ringworm, scabies, acne, etc. For pain, stings and bruising: phytolacca, ledum, hypericum, comfrey & MSM (methylsulphonylmethane) For cuts, abrasions and lesions: calendula, lavender & eucalyptus. Contains no petrochemicals, only herbs, beeswax & plant oils. Use with Nature Fresh Deodorant Body Wash. Free from harmful chemicals. pH balanced for sensitive skin and intimate use. For cleansing and bathing products: only natural herbal tinctures and pure essential oils are used with: vegetable-based glycerine and a gentle coconut derived soap base (sodium laurel ethyl sulphate) that is pH balanced to pH3.5. This makes it non-caustic and suitable for intimate use, baby care and to control candida and odour forming bacteria. All liquid washes and vaginal cleansers have: NO PERFUME, NO COLOURANTS, NO TOXIC: PRESERVATIVES OR CHEMICALS.

NF 036 FIRST AID THERAPY BALM: 75ml Tube

Underarm rashes, skinfold irritations. (Deodorant and shaving sensitivity)

This new silky deo-buster cream contains colloidal silver, selenium and decolourised iodine to help protect ladies from breast cancer. They are combined with herbal extracts of calendula and witch hazel in a paraben-free base of vanishing cream. It is free of aluminium and is ideal for armpits, an area that is close to lymph glands and breast tissue. Iodine and selenium deficiencies affect breast diseases like cancer and fibrocystic disease. Rubbing this anti-chafing cream onto breasts helps to boost iodine reserves that are present in breast tissue. The same goes for the thyroid, making it a great throat cream as well! For tough sporty customers it is excellent for pongy pits, grotty groins (lycra cycle pants) stinky feet (gym shoes) and infected toe nails. It is free of nasty chemicals, perfumes and colouring. The formulation is slightly astringent and is not an antiperspirant. Sweat is not the problem. All you need is to control the bacteria that cause odour, rashes and microbial/fungal skin infections. The cream does not leave white marks on black clothing or yellow stains on white clothing! After using it daily for a while you need only apply it every second day as the odour busting effect increases with regular use.

NF049 DEO-BUSTER: 80ml jar

Skin ulcers, odour problems, infected feet, skinfolds, sunburn, rahses, deodorant sensitivity

Aluminium-free Deo-buster Sport is a gentle skin friendly cream with nature-based antiseptics, odour absorbers, astringents and skin nutrients. It is suitable for underarm, feet and groin areas. It is also beneficial for chafing, rashes, sunburn, ulcerous lesions, bed sores and other personal issues people often have, but never talk about. Tests performed conclude that zinc ricinolate, the active ingredient works for over 24 hours – with or without a shower in between. Even the clothes you wear seem to be protected from the characteristic BO. Curious? The oil-based zinc ricinolate latches onto ammonia – the carrier of odours from perspiration, urine, faeces, etc. and traps it. This is why it is produced in a cream base and not a roll-on or spray format. It is not perfumed and is not an “odour – cover up”. Deo Buster also has an antibacterial action, provided by the zinc oxide and colloidal silver.

Very dry and sensitive skin – moisturiser with Hyaluronic acid Face Food

Plant based oils with herbs, enzymes, vitamins and minerals. Skin nutrition with Hyaluronic acid for improved skin hydration to help restore lost collagen and maintain a youthful, firm skin tone. Herbal extracts and key nutrients help to fight wrinkles, age spots and inflammation. Vitamins, enzymes, minerals and other beauty aids are directly absorbed via the skin. They help to protect the skin from sun damage, inflammation and clogged pores. Lecithin combined with natural plant oils rich in vitamins and antioxidants help to soften, soothe and replenish elasticity and moisture for mature, dry, over stretched and weather-beaten skin. Herbal extracts from rooibos, liquorice, plantain and calendula are well-known for their antioxidants, enzymes and soothing properties. The addition of calcium stimulates the turnover of skin cells. Internet quote: “Herbs don’t cure acne. But they do help, in the short-term. They act as internal boosters for the body and can produce some pretty fast and impressive acne clear-ups. But their effects are short-lived. I found olive leaf to be one of the best herbs for acne.”

Skin Problems

Mar 22, 2016 by Sue Visser

Skin problems: the inside story.

Skin problems like eczema, acne and psoriasis can be devious because they are connected to so many causes. Skin can be used as a diagnostic tool that leads to the inner turmoil that may have caused the reaction on the surface. This is why topical remedies cannot always cure persistent skin conditions without supportive treatment.

When it comes to eczema it is generally agreed that an immune reaction causes the redness, rash, swelling, itching, flaking, blistering or oozing of the skin. The skin may be reacting to something that the person touches, applies to the skin, eats, breathes or is exposed to.

There are two ways to handle skin problems. One is to treat the skin; the other is to treat the whole person. Cortisone cream may help to control skin lesions for a while, but they usually return after the cream is discontinued. We need to calm down the skin as well as solve the problem that caused the outbreak.

The most common offenders fall into these categories:

Food allergies or intolerance:

Common food allergens like wheat, gluten and dairy products need to be investigated because they can cause immune reactions. The person may not be allergic but will demonstrate a delayed reaction to certain foods. In the case of wheat intolerance it may first show up as bed wetting, irritability, anaemia or gall bladder problems that seem unrelated. Then suddenly after an illness or a lot of stress the skin plays up.

Bad diet. Wrong diet:

Adequate nourishment is essential, especially for growing children. The diet should be low in refined carbohydrates and rich in natural foods that supply adequate protein, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and fresh enzymes. Even so, people react to certain foods regardless of how nutritious they may be. Blood type intolerance is poorly understood but inflammatory symptoms can display the way they upset digestion and immunity. Bad digestion is a major cause of skin problems like eczema so a visit to a nutritionist or naturopath would be helpful in many ways.

Micronutrient deficiencies and microbial infections:

Multivitamins and minerals are always important. For the skin, the miracle supplement is cod liver oil. To the degree one lacks Omega 3 oil and has an excess of Omega 6 and saturated fats, one is vulnerable to inflammation. To calm down the immune system further try taking higher doses of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5.) Vitamin B complex needs to be boosted when you are under stress or suffering from mould infections like candidiasis that consume these nutrients.

External allergens and toxins:

Air borne allergens also cause upsets and if the body is malnourished then the skin flare-ups get worse. Pollen, cat hair, house mould, house dust and chemical toxins are pet hates. People who sneeze and wheeze are usually more prone to itches, bumps and rashes due to over stimulated immune systems that pump out excessive antigens. Homeopathy is a good way to settle down the immune system by taking remedies based on your trigger substances at prescribed potencies.

Systemic acidity and dehydration:

Histamine is often a reaction to something that touches or bites the skin. Up comes the rash. It may develop into eczema. Histamine activity is linked to dehydration, acidity and water imbalances. So you sneeze, cough, get a runny nose and have watery eyes. To compensate: drink some water and take some vitamin C. Alternatively, take a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water. Good natural antihistamines are Cantharis or Berberis tincture from the health shop. A few drops can also be dotted onto wet cotton wool to calm down a violent rash.

What you touch or wear:

Clothing washed in harsh laundry soaps causes sensitive people get an angry rash. Some people react to washing dishes or even to bath soap that is too alkaline. Other people have problems wearing jewellery or tight synthetic clothing. These problems are obvious enough and easy to avoid. Add a few tablespoons of white vinegar to the final rinsing water to remove residues of laundry detergent and avoid fabric softeners.

Emotional problems, anxiety and stress:

The best remedies to deal with emotional issues that tie in with skin problems are Bach Flower Remedies. These innocent yet potent little brown bottles of drops work at a vibrational level for all manner of feelings that affect our health in many ways. They can be taken or applied to lesions when diluted or mixed into a body lotion.

Bach flower remedies for emotion-based skin problems

Rescue Remedy is the best known and will work for acute conditions.

Crab Apple helps to detoxify the system, especially if there is pus present.

Holly can be used if the skin is red and angry and the person is irritable.

Impatiens or agrimony is good for itchy conditions and a nervous, anxious constitution.

Larch helps for those who feel self-conscious of their skin condition.

Walnut or beech: are used if you are sensitive or allergic to substances.

Willow can be used if there is underlying bitterness or seething resentment.

Water violet is for the loners who shun company especially because of a skin problem.

Chestnut bud helps if the problem is chronic or recurring. (Also give supportive treatment.)

Gentian uplifts people who feel discouraged about the problem.

Tissue salts that work well for skin problems

When it comes to skin related problems then tissue salts work miracles. The driving principle of this type of supplementation is to address the mineral deficiencies that manifest as health problems. You suck the pills under the tongue and can also dissolve a few pills in a little water to swab onto the skin or mix into soothing lotions.

FERRUM PHOS: where there is redness, burning, pain and inflammation. Good for acute cases or flare ups. The patient may also be anaemic.

KALI MUR: eczema, shingles. Alternate with FERRUM PHOS when inflammation is present. A white coated tongue is a good indicator. It is also good for granular lumps or bumps under the skin.

KALI SULPH: is good for eruptions that have discharges are yellow or watery with peeling of the skin.

NAT MUR: eczema related to water imbalances such as excessive dryness or weepiness. The patient may have headaches, be bloated or constipated.

CALC PHOS: eczema and skin irritations with pimples on the face. Anaemia may be present.

CALC FLUOUR: where skin is cracked, chapped or hard and horny. It builds collagen tissue.

If in doubt ask a Homeopath

Some practitioners like Homeopaths, for instance, will tell parents that the child’s other problems such as bed wetting, asthma, post nasal drip, hyperactivity and irritability need to be considered simultaneously. Your homeopath will be able to prescribe individual remedies to suit an exact symptom picture. Especially with a child who has not recovered after vaccinations.

Some forms of persistent dermatitis miraculously heal when the right homeopathic or energy remedy is used. But there are thousands to choose from and you need to use the correct potency. A helpful remedy for all forms of acne and boils is made out of tin. It is called “stannum.” Some health shops and pharmacies provide combination treatments specially for skin problems that work in synergy. Merc Sol, Graphites and Kali Bich are good for incurable itching, weeping and metal sensitivity. They are reasonably priced and have little or no side effects.

Herbal healers and gentle soothing products

Calendula is the greatest skin doctor of all! There are many herbal products available that contain calendula, aloe, centella and other naturally soothing herbs like lavender. Your health shop will be happy to show you around. Do not use harshly alkaline soaps. The pH of the skin is slightly acidic. Honey can be used to wash troubled skin areas. Body scrubbers made from oatmeal and herbs, tied in a muslin cloth are soothing. The creamy mixture that is squeezed from the ball can be applied as a face pack.

Watch out for cosmetic acne

Beware of products that contain “comedogenic” ingredients that cause pimples. Some ladies suffer from a condition known as cosmetic acne: skin with tiny bumps, filled with fluid or pus. Pimples and rashes can be caused by ingredients like coco or cocoa butter, soy oil, Oleth-3, Laureth-4 and some forms of caetylated lanolin; isopropyl mystrate and isopropyl iosterate. Mineral oil, glycerin, safflower oil and sunflower oil do not cause such problems.

The Chinese believe that to the degree that your liver is healthy, your skin and eyes are healthy. This is a great time to top up with probiotics to deal with microbial infections like candidiasis. Drink home made juice made from fresh fruit, herbs and green leaves. Healthy within and healthy without!

Kidney and urinary problems

Mar 14, 2018 by Sue Visser

Kidney and urinary problems

How do these conditions come about

CAUSE 1: A bacterial infection in the bladder. Happens usually when the urine becomes acidic, from a bad diet, high sugar levels, not alkalizing the system frequently, weakened immunity and dehydration. You feel pain and burning when urinating.

Cranberry juice has become popular as the sugar it contains prevents bacteria from sticking to the bladder lining. It is available at the supermarket and you need to drink 1 – 2 glasses a day. We find that Eugenia berries are excellent, if you have them growing nearby and they are in season.

To eliminate the infection, antibiotics can be used, but they have adverse effects, especially when used too frequently. Rather find out why you are prone to infection. Nature Fresh parasite remedy or olive leaf tablets/tincture will help eliminate a bacterial infection. Drink enough water during the treatment.

CAUSE 2: Hormonal upsets and especially contraceptives that deplete vitamin B 6 .Strange, but true: the urine becomes too acidic or sometimes too alkaline and yeast, fungal or bacterial infections can invade. See also the advice on intimate hygiene at: www.naturefresh.co.za for help with skin lesions and irritations once the urine is sorted out.

CAUSE 3: FORMATION OF KIDNEY STONES. The onset of kidney stones is often mistaken for lower backache. Just raise your fists behind you, below the ribs and push into the back area on either side of the spine to check for sensitivity. Stones form when the urine is too high in oxalates and phosphates (too acidic) Oxalic acid occurs naturally in foods like spinach, rhubarb and sorrel. Providing your intake of calcium and magnesium is adequate, they should not cause calcium oxalate stones.

Foods rich in phosphorus are more of a problem: a hamburger and a Coke, for instance as well as most junk foods rich in sugar, white flour and fried in oil will release a lot of phosphoric acid into the system. It is filtered out into the blood, where it reaches the kidneys. Calcium is removed from the skeleton to neutralize the acid. This attaches to the acid and forms the stones.

These stones never contain calcium from a calcium and magnesium supplement, by the way and this is a fact. So there is no danger in alkalizing the system with Nature Fresh Calcium complex at night! The magnesium it contains helps to prevent kidney stones whilst the extra calcium supplementation prevents the removal of calcium from the bones. Kidney stones are one of the first indicators of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, as the loss of calcium gets worse and worse as the stones begin to enlarge.

It makes sense to change the diet from one of modern convenience foods that are high in phosphorus to natural fruit and vegetables and whole grains that suit your blood type. As such, these foods are alkalizing to the body. (Brown rice and millet suit all blood types. Wheat is only suitable for a few people such as the A- and AB- secretors.)

A quick urinary alkalizer to use in emergencies: is sodium citrate (or the commercial form: citro soda) It is also wise to drink a glass of water every two hours if the kidneys give you hell.

Helpful Nature Fresh remedies for kidney stones and urinary infections

1 Nature Fresh Parasite Remedy for acute conditions Take 10ml 2x per day in a little water before meals for 2 or 3 days if there is a flare up.

2 Nature fresh Olive Leaf tablets for long term control Take 2 olive leaf tablets mornings and afternoons. Do not take with Calcium.

3 Nature Fresh Calcium complex for long term acid balancing Take a teaspoon of the powder in a little water at bedtime every night.

4 Nature Fresh Coleus tincture Coleus tincture helps with a bigger picture that leads to the cause of urinary upsets and bladder problems: especially if poor insulin metabolism is causing too much sugar to enter the urine. Diabetics have these problems. The bottom line is: do not eat so much sugar and refined carbohydrates in the first place.

Coleus (Forskolin) helps to help treat: hypertension, mild congestive heart failure, asthma, eczema and psoriasis, digestive weakness and IBS, persistent urinary infections, is anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine and soothing to the nervous system. It is vital to communication between hormones and neurotransmitters to treat symptoms of low oestrogen or testosterone, dopamine and catecholamine activity.

Coleus is effective for weight loss and fat burning with prevention of subsequent fat storage. Also aids digestion and stimulates thyroid function to speed up metabolism. Helps release stored glycogen from the liver to balance low blood sugar. Aids in sugar metabolism for treatment of insulin resistance – syndrome X (diabetes 2,) PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and obesity. Forskolin has been shown to be safe and effective and has a great potential as a sports supplement.

4 Nature Fresh Prostate Remedy.

For men: Nature Fresh prostate remedy contains a good herbal formulation for: urinary flushing, anti-inflammatory action and has a natural painkiller. It is especially good for clearing out the bladder before bedtime, to prevent frequent and not so productive trips to the toilet. It contains a little saw palmetto herb, good for balancing male hormones, We have helped to up multiple urinary and prostate complications with this remedy as well.

For bed wetters: Some doctors prescribe the prostate remedy to children who can’t control their bladder when they sleep. (enuresis) Giving the remedy a few hours before they go to bed ensures that the bladder fully empties before the long night. It helps to ease the tension the child may feel about holding in the urine and panicking. Also give Calcium Comlex to help with relaxation, rest and sleep.

5 Nature Fresh Tribulus Terrestris tincture is also helpful for urinary problems, especially for men. But women using it also have many benefits, as you can see.

Other benefits:Tribulus is a non-irritant diuretic and urinary antiseptic. It is used in case of dysurea, urinary stone and incontinence of urine. (Calcium, magnesium and vitamin B6 supplements prevent kidney stones.)Tribulus Terrestris is used in various herbal formulas to treat headaches, eye problems such as itching, conjunctivitis and weak vision, and nervousness. It is often traditionally used to treat high blood pressure and rib pain.

The hormone balancing effects of Tribulus Terrestris for women makes this herb suitable for the premenstrual syndrome and for treating menopausal symptoms of low estrogen. Tribulus contains Sterols like betasitosterols or stigma. These substances protect the prostate from swelling and in combination with the X steroidal saponins, protect the prostate from cancer.

Tribulus is used in case of impotence and spermaturia as it helps to increase the level of the luteinizing hormone in the body and improves the synthesis of the testicular male sex hormone. Traditionally the use of Tribulus is found to be effective in cases of gout. It is good for men and women to increase their sex drive as it has an aphrodisiac effect.

Other Kidney and bladder remedies:

1 Kidney stones: RENOTONE TABLETS made by TIBB. These can be ordered from your pharmacy or health shop. The company Tibb makes Aurvedic herbal tablets for just about everything. They are excellent and not expensive. Many of my doctor friends have had their patients cleared of kidney stones – without invasive laser or surgery treatment, so save your self a lot of pain!

2 Vtamin B6 supplements prevent kidney stones if combined with magnesium. Nature fresh Calcium complex contains calcium, magnesium and vitamin B6 (but you need to take extra 100mg per day).

For treatment: Take extra Vitamin B6 tablets: 50mg, 2x per day. Take a dose of 5ml of Calcium Complex in the evenings.

3 Burning urine Acute: To stop the sharp stinging and burning pain, the Homeopathic remedies: CANTHARIS and/or BERBERIS drops (kidney and bladder rermedy) can be used and people report they give much relief. Made by Pharma Natura or Weleda, from chemists and health shops.

Taken in water they relieve the burn and help a lot with cystitis. It is also a natural anti-histamine and good for all allergies and inflammation. When added to the drinking water of cats and dogs – they stop having a flea problem. No more biting, itching and scratching or open sores. Isn’t that telling us something!

4 D-Mannose treatment. People who take this product say it helps a lot. D-mannose is a natural sugar and can be bought from the health shop. It inhibits the adhesion of bacteria onto the wall of the bladder. Take as directed. It is good for both treatment and prevention of bladder and urinary infections. But first get rid of the bacteria and you won’t have any adhesion on the bladder wall.

3 The best herbs in your kitchen to cleanse kidneys are: 2 cups of chopped parsley and celery. Add fresh dandelion leaves if you can pick from the garden or a field nearby. Add a chopped apple or ¼ cucumber to the blender. In summer, eat watermelon or add the white bits and scraps to your juice. Take kidney cleansing herbs or fruits for 3 or 4 days prior to doing the liver and gallbladder flush. At the same time, take Nature Fresh Parasite remedy first thing in the morning when you wake up and then have a glass of water.

How to make your own fresh juice every day.

Make your morning juice as usual every day: 1 cup water with 2 cups of chopped herbs/fruit and vegetable combinations. This is processed in the electric blender jug. Then sieve it through a cloth, placed on a sieve. Drain and squeeze the residue through the cloth. This is enough for 2 or 3 people.

NF 053 DEO-BUSTER SPORT

New formulation, the DEO-buster SPORT + Skin Doctor

Unique nature-based active ingredients.

No animal testing. Only customer testing, with excellent results.
We do not test on animals. We do extensive testing on family, friends and customers, prior to the release of the final Deo-Buster SPORT formulation. We undertake these trials on an informal, anecdotal basis and by no means are any claims being made. As a deodorant, it turned out to be very effective, especially when used after a bath or shower with our Deo-buster Body Wash (Link here) or Intimate Cleansers (Link here). There were numerous reports of the other benefits, such as anti-chafing, for skin folds and areas where heat rashes are a problem. For groin problems, (Jock itch) it was also of benefit. Underarm shaving rashes, allergies, heat bumps and even dark spots on the skin were also reported as “helped and healed”.

Visible signs of heart problems

Nov 4, 2016 by Sue Visser

When the heart begins to fail, symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath, ankle swelling, or fluid retention show up and require immediate attention.

Early if not unusual body indicators can help to prevent some of the familiar aspects of cardiovascular disease. In some cases lumps and bumps or painful swelling can even warn you about the presence of deadly bacteria in your bloodstream.

1 Increasing waistline

Insulin resistance, obesity and diabetes are directly connected to heart disease. Look at yourself in the mirror and check your waistline. Is it spreading? For ladies the upper limit is 88 cm, for men it is 102 cm. Is there excess belly fat? Take a diagonal skinfold between the belly button and the waistline. If the fingers can’t squeeze down to closer than 1-2 cm then your body mass index is too high.

2 Erectile dysfunction

This is noticeable and may be an early indicator of the problems that lead to poor circulation with inflammation, such as a build-up of plaque in the arteries.

3 Changes in skin can indicate arterial fibrillation

Cameras and scanners can detect skin changes that indicate uneven blood flow caused by arterial fibrillation. An irregular or sometimes rapid heart rate can affect circulation when the upper and lower chambers of the heart beat out of sync. If left untreated it increases the risk for blood clots and stroke.

4 The iris indicates triglyceride levels, lymphatic conditions and heart lung defects

We can see that fats are accumulating in the blood stream  by the white ring that appears around the iris as we get older. Another white circle around the iris can show at a glance how congested the lymphatic system is. People who have had serious heart or lung problems will have a darkened spot where these zones are represented on the left iris.

5 Yellow bumps around the eyes or on the body

Xanthomas are deposits of fat that build up under the skin. They may appear as small yellow bumps or as flat, wide appendages on your elbows, knees, hands, feet, or buttocks. A type of xanthoma called “xanthelasma palpebra” appears on the eyelids. They may indicate insulin resistance or high cholesterol levels. Eruptive xanthomas appear as crops of yellow-orange papules with reddish borders on arms, legs and usually the buttocks when triglyceride levels are greater than 11 mmol/L (1000 mg/d).

6 Skin tags indicate insulin resistance (HBP, cholesterol and diabetes)

Skin tags are protruding growths on the skin, especially on the neck that look like warts or sacks. They are often darker in colour. These are called skin tags. They are unsightly and irritating yet are harmless. They will increase to the extent you are insulin resistant. You may already have high blood pressure.

7 Swelling under the eyes, blue rings may indicate kidney dysfunction and fluid retention.

Blue smears under the eyes or blackened rings (raccoon eyes) indicate dehydration and  food allergies – especially to wheat or gluten. Carbon dioxide gets trapped in the tiny blood vessels and so the skin appears to be blue.

8 Clubbing or bulbous fingers and toes caused by low oxygen in the blood

If the nails are clubbing or becoming round and bulbous at the tips it may be connected to a chronic shortage of oxygen. This can indicate aortic valve disease especially if accompanied by shortness of breath, a chronic cough, fatigue and chest pain.  If extremities feel numb it may be associated with diabetes – another cause of poor circulation and nerve damage called peripheral neuropathy.

9 Fingers that warn us about bacterial endocarditis

Splinter haemorrhages happen when tiny blood clots form in the capillaries beneath finger and toe nails. If this occurs in a person with a heart murmur and an ongoing low grade fever it could indicate an infection of the heart valves called bacterial endocarditis. Osler’s nodes and “Janeway” lesions are red painful little lumps most commonly found on the pads of the fingers and toes and as well as on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. They are not painful and are usually associated with acute bacterial endocarditis. (Page 36, 99 )

10 Swelling of the feet and lower legs

Oedema refers to swollen areas, especially around the ankles due to fluid retention. Most people with peripheral oedema do not have heart disease, but when combined with other conditions it can indicate heart failure.

11 Cyanosis is a bluish discoloration due to a lack of haemoglobin

It is usually seen on the lips, nail beds, earlobes, and cheeks. This happens when the absolute concentration of reduced haemoglobin exceeds 5 g/dL. In peripheral cyanosis, a slowing of blood flow and over extraction of oxygen from blood can be caused by reactions to shock or congestive heart failure, peripheral vascular disease or Raynaud’s syndrome.

12 Red, purple or black skin patches

Warfarin and other aggressive anticoagulant drugs can cause painful areas of erythema (redness) that may become purpuric (purple) and necrotic (black, stagnant or dead). An imbalance in the levels of anticoagulant and pro coagulant vitamin K–dependent factors causes the leakage of blood into tissues. (Pages 53-60, 105, 121) It affects subcutaneous fat: for example breasts, abdomen, buttocks, thighs or calves.

13 Skin tone pale or red, spider veins

Red spots, like patches of blood pooling beneath the skin is an early indicator of a vitamin C deficiency. It is usually is accompanied by bleeding gums – another sign that collagen is breaking down and not being replaced. The skin shows easy bruising and bleeding and small spider veins form, usually on the cheeks. Blood vessels begin to weaken and degenerate. Red-faced people have a lot of blood racing through their system while pale-skinned ghostly white complexions are associated with anaemia. They lack haemoglobin, the substance needed by red blood cells to carry oxygen. As a result they are tired and are short of oxygen.

14 Yellow, grey or coppery skin tones

Excessive iron accumulation within the organs and tissues results in a disease called haemochromatosis. It can also be caused by a genetic quirk in people who absorb over 4 times the amount of iron they need from food sources. Haemochromatosis is dangerous for the heart because iron oxidizes and can damage heart muscle. If left untreated congestive heart failure is usually the result.

15 Bulging eyes indicate hyperthyroidism and irregular heart beat

Ocular proptosis (bulging or “pop eyes”) are evident in people with Graves disease or other hyperthyroid abnormalities that affect the heart rate, cardiomyopathy, supraventricular arrhythmias, or atrial fibrillation.

16 Dry hair, coarse skin, clammy hands associated with Hypothyroidism – low cardiac output

Hypothyroidism is associated with an increased resting heart rate, decreased contractility, and decreased cardiac output. Diastolic pressure is increased and pulse pressure is narrowed. Cardiac output may be reduced by up to 30%-40% as a result of decreased stroke volume and heart rate. There is increased systemic vascular resistance plus arterial stiffness. Higher homocysteine levels, increased C-reactive protein and higher blood viscosity are usually present to a degree. About 90% of patients with overt hypothyroidism have elevated total cholesterol and LDL levels.

17 Diagonal ear lobe creases

An earlobe crease combined with fatty deposits on the eyelids (xanthelasmata), a receding hairline or baldness and a larger waistline all indicate cardiovascular problems. The crease can also be seen on younger people with a high potential for cardiovascular problems. They are said to be associated with an increased heart attack risk of 57% and ischemic heart disease by 39%. Diagonal creases were present in 123 (72%) of 171 men and 88 (67%) of 132 women in heart disease assessment. They are more common on the left ear. (This is the reflex pathway of the heart meridian.)

18 Mercury fillings increase the toxic potential

An alarming study found patients with advanced congestive heart failure to have up to 22,000 times the mercury levels in the heart of those without amalgam fillings.

19 Gum Diseases and sources of direct bleeding like leaky gut

Swollen, sore, and or bleeding gums (gingivitis) are usually a sign of poor oral hygiene, but may also be an important indicator of heart disease. Any lesions in the mouth act as channels for bacteria that can directly enter the bloodstream. Dentists may accidentally cut the gum tissue or cause a wound. This is one of the reasons why they prescribe antibiotics – to protect the heart! People who have a leaky gut are also more prone to bacterial infections that affect the heart due to the direct access the intestinal microbes have to the bloodstream when the lining is damaged. ADD School Problems

ADD School Problems

BACKGROUND

DEFINITION: Hyperactivity or Hyperkinesia is considered to be a state of abnormal mental and physical restlessness. Behaviour is often unruly and boisterous or impulsive and fidgety. There is little need for sleep. These children prove to have endurance levels beyond those of their parents, teachers and siblings. Living intimately with such an individual is a traumatic and exhausting experience.

Expecting such a child to calm down and concentrate on school work without any form of medication would be asking for too much. They seem to tap into an energy system that gives them superior powers of endurance for which there seems to be no explanation. Their limited attention span seems to be overcompensated for with an uncontrollable surge of raw, primitive energy. Although this problem is on the increase we must be aware of the consequences of using dangerous amphetamines prior to correcting the nutritional deficiencies in the child’s diet.

Please keep an open mind during this discussion about these “disorders”. Our ultimate goal is to achieve healthy, happy children who do not have to live under a sinister cloud of threats from authorities who insist that they have a disorder that may not even exist. 90% of the cases being presented every day in schools in this country are being incorrectly diagnosed as the basis of the examination is downright fraudulent.

There is no reason to add more stress to a child who may not be able to study due to stress in the first place. Amphetamines cause even more stress to the body as they trigger the fight and flight stress response by stimulating the release of adrenaline and noradrenaline. There must be a way to solve this problem. Let us persevere and look at the variety of causes and solutions that current research has to offer.

RITALIN,COCAINE,SLIMMING DRUGS AND CAFFEINE : THE GLORY STORY

Would you treat a child’s “attention deficit disorder (ADD)” with Cocaine or Ritalin? These  brain stimulants  have dangerous side-effects and can be habit-forming. You may not even know that your child takes drugs at school. Some children sell their Ritalin for extra cash while others smoke Dagga or Mandrax because the Ritalin makes them restless. Others steal slimming pills or save up their Ritalin to get a “high” and “party” all night. Over 80% of today’s cocaine addicts took Ritalin at school.

RITALIN : THE NEW SCHOOL MASTER ?

“ADD” means your child has a learning problem and Ritalin is usually recommended for treatment. We are told that: “It works- the child gets better marks at school.” Some pupils do “improve” on the medication, but it is not a case of: “The more Ritalin you take, the smarter you get.” Just the opposite applies: artificial stimulants reduce levels of natural stimulants in the brain and lead to a physical dependence on drugs to function normally. Not all children can tolerate the sensation that Ritalin gives them. They are not all able to calm down, study or concentrate and become model students on Ritalin.Ritalin is merely a drug and as such, it has contra indications, side effects and certain limitations.

Both Ritalin and certain slimming drugs are taken for the “benefits” of side effects the drug produces and not for the intended use as a brain stimulant or amphetamine. Ritalin can be taken at three levels: small doses to stimulate the brain, larger doses to suppress the nervous system and thus counteract hyperactivity and lastly, overdosing that sets off a stress response in the body. Nobese, Appetrol, Dietene, etc, are brain stimulants used as slimming drugs. Ritalin is a brain stimulant commonly used to calm down children and help them to study. As with amphetamines, overdosing and abuse can lead to hysteria, delusions, paranoia, crying fits, excitability, dilated pupils, dry mouth, excessive sweating, suicidal tendencies and eventually  nervous depression and the burn-out phase of the stress response.

Other side effects include growth retardation, unwanted weight loss, malnutrition, nausea, dizziness, lethargy, skin rashes and a change in blood pressure with irregular or violent heart palpitations. Physical and psychological dependence is common and stimulants such as Speed and Cocaine are often sought after in later years. Some children drink alcohol or smoke Dagga or Mandrax to counteract the Ritalin or they take slimming drugs that contain Fenfluramine as it has a sedative effect. To wake up again, they take amphetamines.

In America Ritalin is regarded as a “dangerous drug” by the Food and Drug Administration and the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. Don’t be fooled!  Parents are reassured that Ritalin is a harmless, non habit-forming drug. The effect of Ritalin wears off after a few hours so it is taken every day. The brain becomes tolerant to Ritalin, so the doses are increased. Some schools will not accept pupils unless they are on Ritalin. That means children taking this schedule 7 drug can be taught but if treated with natural remedies, food supplements and diets they are often viewed with suspicion.

We should question the integrity of drug pushers who insist we abuse dangerous drugs for an automatic solution to our child’s learning problems. Is it symptomatic of the brainwashing that we ourselves have been subjected to? Every time we reach for a wonder drug to cure our headaches, stomach ulcers or aches and pains that result from mismanaging our bodies are we not guilty of neglect and laziness? We want results, we want them fast and so we reach for a quick fix. It is too easy to say we do not understand the causes of attention deficit disorders. It always requires effort to unveil the origin of a disease. If eventually we do find that a faulty genetic factor is to blame, do we automatically reach for the Ritalin and try to ignore the consequences of giving schedule 7 drugs to little children?

THERE ARE SAFER WAYS TO TREAT “ATTENTION DEFICIT” CHILDREN AND ADULTS.

Natural  remedies  may  take longer to correct “attention deficit” disorders, but their effects are more permanent and have a better effect on one’s overall health. No more “hype-ups, let-downs or feeling funny”. Not all adults have very long attention spans either. How many people actually listen to you or make sense when they speak themselves? Studies show that all children with learning disorders suffer from a lack of calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, iron, B vitamins and essential fatty acids, as well as amino acids like L-taurine. The brain cannot manufacture them, regardless of the amount of stimulants given.

Ritalin suppresses the appetite and children who have zinc deficiencies are fussy eaters who crave sweets, junk foods and fizzy drinks. Low blood sugar is not a deficiency of sugar. It is caused by sugar abuse. The saying: “Sugar gives you go” is not true. Sugar triggers the release of too much insulin when consumed without protein, fat or fibre. The body craves more sugar because the excess insulin once again lowers blood sugar and affects one’s ability to concentrate.

LOW BLOOD SUGAR IS A MAJOR CAUSE OF “ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDERS”

Symptoms of low blood sugar are: a dizzy feeling, headaches, moodiness, irritability, confusion and a lack of concentration. They usually occur by mid morning in pupils who have not had a substantial breakfast. If they start the day with sugar coated cereals and very little else, their blood sugar will reach an all time low after two hours. “ADD” is common in children and adults who suffer from bad eating habits. Stimulants are not going to compensate for a lack of food. Adults  take coffee, appetite suppressants and herbal stimulants when  they can’t concentrate, but their children are given a schedule 7 drug!

NATURAL PRODUCTS THAT HAVE PRODUCED VERY GOOD RESULTS WITH “ADD”

The best way to deal with blood sugar disorders is to prevent them. Start with nutritious breakfasts, meals and snacks every two hours. Cut out sugar and junk food. Give vitamin and mineral supplements every day. A recent study showed that over 30% of the “attention deficient” children who took adequate daily supplements of zinc, copper, calcium and magnesium were able to come off their medications. Many people suffer from acidic constitutions as a result of alkaline mineral deficiencies. Trials with calcium and magnesium supplements indicate a return to an ideal salivary pH of 7 after a few weeks. Their low blood sugar problems also improved.

Vitamin E. Many parents have used this vitamin to control hyperactivity and attention deficit disorders. It has a calming, soothing effect. It is recommended as a supplement in conjunction with multivitamins and minerals. 100 or 200mg were given in the mornings before school.

HYPERBAN from NRF. A fully comprehensive supplement designed for school children by Professor Serfontein who has a very scientific approach to this problem. The supplement includes all the nutrients the growing child requires to achieve learning and concentration skills. Vitamins and amino acids serve as natural brain stimulants and they have a more permanent effect. A sensible healthy diet is also recommended and results can be expected within a few weeks

VITAMIN B12 and folic acid lozenges can be sucked under the tongue and given once or twice a day immediately before the study period. The brain is naturally energized and focused and it is safe to use, with no sinister side effects. You can try it for yourself. The small white  pills cost about 30c each and are made by LEPPIN or the NRF who call it: FOLAVITE. Does wonders for self-esteem and the pills can be packed into an old Ritalin container or something with a prescription label and given to the teacher responsible who insists on drugging the kids. If she relaxes, you relax and the kid can get on with studying without more stress from adults who get uptight!

Lastly, have a good look at the diets we provide for blood types and the useful NATURE FRESH ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DIET that suits most conditions, especially ADD, ADHD, allergies, etc.

Well-nourished and happy children have abundant levels of energy and an acceptable concentration span that is usually better than that of their parents. Their non-verbal IQ levels are way above the children who live exclusively on junk foods and sweets. Yes, there is another a cure for “attention deficit disorders”
